Not too fond of Skyrim

The game doesn't have the longest main quest, but the fun comes from just exploring or doing other random quests.

So I bought Skryim on release day very happy of getting it and played it for about 10 hours that weekend. But since than I've only played the game for about 15 hours. It just seems like there's not enough things in the game too keep me interested in it like Oblivion did.
Usually with the other TES games I would do the MQ first because it was so interesting, but for Skyrim I could only do a few quests for the MQ cause it was say... boring.

I don't know, to me it just seems like Skyrim is one of the more poor TES games that I've played. I would love to get into the game, but for some reason I just never see that happening.
You can't find enough things to do? There are like 280 places to explore, 60 something quests, 100 something randomized objectives. like 400 different combat style combinations to try.

Wat.

Different people like different things I guess. I think I've gotten about as much enjoyment and entertainment out of Skyrim in 6 months of owning it as I did with both Oblivion and Morrowind.

this gamesas game is the first game where all of the faults, deficiencies and dislikes of the game are so pronounced that they detract from my enjoyment.

This. It's gotten to the point where I can't play it much, even heavily modded. Hopefully the DLC will spark my interest in it again.

i agree skyrim stems out of the TeS catagory for me. I don't get that Elder Scrolls feel. It feels like more of an action game with a perk system which IMO should not be in a TeS game

Also this. Fun game for quite a while though.

I don't have a problem with perks themselves in a TES game. I just think they were poorly implemented, gutting the old system in an effort to shift importance onto them.

Anyways, I've barely touched the game in two months are so. As far as TES games go, to me, that's a pretty sad statement about the game. And it's not my first break from the game.

The perks basically ARE the old system, as if Todd thought ripping off Fallout's perk system would be as simple as taking all the typical skill benefits seen in Oblivion and Morrowind and making them take perk form instead of automatically being given to you when your skill hits a certain point...

Well for my 2cents, look at your current age versus when you played oblivion. I was introduced to TES with Morrowind in junior high and logged 200+ hours instead of homework, my entire summer evenings were devoted to conquering that game. But now I'm in my mid 20s and spend most of my time working. I just can't find the time to truly appreciate the long stories and quests like I used to. TES has become a weekends only game and even then I can't fully enjoy myself.
Anyway, I still like the game though my fond memory of Morrowind has me a little disappointed with Skyrim.

Sorry to hear that. I loved Skyrim; played my first character I made on 11/12/11 for 157 hours; then upgraded my computer so i could turn up the graphics and decided to come up with a whole new character.

i like that main quest in Skyrim; I liked Oblivions guild quests but I really didn't like the main quest. At all. I would stop playing and force myself to continue. For me, the games all have their own unique appeal. Skyrim may lost the stats I enjoyed fiddling with, but i truly enjoy the world, the combat and the story.

Don't feel bad. Though I played every TES since Morrowind and all of the Bethesda Fallout versions (as well as the old turn-based ones of old... but that's a digression), I for some reason didn't get into Skyrim right away. I played a good 50 hours or so then just stopped playing it. But after a break, I picked it up again and I'm hooked to it like crack. I just finally got Deus Ex and I'm playing it begrudgingly because I miss my mage in Skyrim so much that's all I can think about.

...so do you usually post a thread about a game when you dislike it?
i thought oblivion was just as good. i may have even played it more but will probably surpass with skyrim.
mq is boring? dragons man, dragons. can you honestly tell me you preferred closing the [censored] oblivion gates to slaying a dragon... those things were torture (which i guess is characteristic, but wait we paid for it)
i don't see it happening either. maybe you should elaborate?

THIS! THIS THIS!
At this point I don't think all of the DLCs that Skyrim will get will make the game as good as the previous games where (unless they bring back all of the features and content that made the previous games fun [though the chances of that happening is like winning the lotto twice]).

EDIT: Perhaps a year or two or three and mods will make Skyrim enjoyable.

It seems to be just a matter of first time experience really. TES game really offer an overwhelming experience the first time you play them. Not many games like TES out there.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this. It's all about first experiences as they have the most impact. Morrowind was my first TES game and I'll never forget when I realised what kind of game it was and that I could go anywhere and just break into peoples homes and stuff. I believe Skyrim is overall a better game but it can never give that 'holy-[censored]' feeling that I had with Morrowind ever again.
