That's odd...

So i made a new character, a Dark elf mage that is trying to find a new life in Skyrim, who is chilling in the inn in the slums of windhelm when another mer comes up to me and says, "if your looking for some somethign something, go to carthahall" So i'm confused as to why she would say this, i'm obviously a Dark elf...

So any ways, what do you like about how each race treats the other races? i like how that one dirt bag nord goes and rants about dark elves in windhelm.

Yeah I noticed that Dark Elf woman that gets bullied tells you about the Docks and jobs and such.

I do love how Races stay together truly. I haven't had any Bretons say anything special to me yet... kinda dissapointing.

Something about High Rock, or the Revolution of the Reach, etc. would've been interesting. It seems there's little to 0 info about Redguards, Bretons, or the Lizards in Skyrim. You can find all sorts of info on the other races though, easily.

If you mean the line about how if you're looking for a drink and a bed, you should go to Candlehearth Hall, I think it's random dialogue from local NPCs. Altho it might be specific to Niranye, the Altmer who runs a stall in the marketplace... I'm pretty sure she's said it to me more than once, and altho she doesn't live in the Gray Quarter herself she does live on that side of the city and I've passed her on the street over there a few times as well.

Go ahead and go to Candlehearth, I'm curious to hear what kind of reception you get. When I played as a Dunmer the first thing out of the innkeeper's mouth was always "maybe you better just move along." I did play a pro-Imperial thief/assassin with that character, but as I recall I was greeted that way before I ever joined any of those factions. I couldn't remember if she was that rude to *everybody* or not but I went back to a Nord PC on my current game and she doesn't say that to this character, so... yeah. But if you engage her in convo she will still rent you a room and sell you food and drink.

I think the whole "attitudes towards race" aspect prevalent through this game adds a bit to the believability of TES's world (yes, I realize it is unfortunate)--because humans have quarreled throughout themselves because of differences like that which aren't as drastic as, say, Dunmer and Nord. It's not particularly well-done, especially to the Player Character, but it's there.

The Stormcloaks' subtle racism towards anyone who ain't a Nord really gets me, here. And I don't think I could pass a mention on the Aldmeri Dominion, or the Bretons in the Reach.

I do think that Bethesda could have done a lot more with race relations in the game, though. It was really simplified and not all that well-thought-out at times.

Sadly people don't seem to treat you differently much, which kinda svcks but I can understand why, with the game being so big and all.

I really wanted to see the Khajiit traders in Skyrim treat a fellow Khajiit differently. Alas, they do not.

Agreed completely. But I found out Ulfric mostly acts like that because of past experiences, and his Father. It's literally a base of "Like Father, Like Son" here.. (just try and guess who his dad is..)

Oh and btw, Carmen San Diego FTW bro..
