I think the whole "attitudes towards race" aspect prevalent through this game adds a bit to the believability of TES's world (yes, I realize it is unfortunate)--because humans have quarreled throughout themselves because of differences like that which aren't as drastic as, say, Dunmer and Nord. It's not particularly well-done, especially to the Player Character, but it's there.
The Stormcloaks' subtle racism towards anyone who ain't a Nord really gets me, here. And I don't think I could pass a mention on the Aldmeri Dominion, or the Bretons in the Reach.
I do think that Bethesda could have done a lot more with race relations in the game, though. It was really simplified and not all that well-thought-out at times.
