And Now for Something Funny

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 11:10 am

I thought this was completely hysterical so I am going to share it with my fellow players:

As a female Dragonborn, I married Wilhem (the Inn keeper in Iverstead) and had us move into my home in Whiterun.

All of his dialog options are still there (specially the ones from when he used to be an Inn Keeper) which I guess it would be normal since he is an Inn Keeper, still have food to sell and rooms to rent.

So just for giggles, while in my own home (Breezehome) I decided to talk to my spouse (Wilhem) and decided to "rent a room for 10 gold". He takes the money and proceeds to "Show me to my room" which he promptly leaves Breezehome to go outside (I follow) and once outside he says:

"Is there anything I can do for you, love"

And then goes back inside Breezehome.

I thought that was incredibly funny in a "You should know better than to rent a room in your own home and how dare you suggest such a thing, you are sleeping outside!"

What sort of thing have you encountered in Skyrim that has made you laugh out loud? (can't be a glitch/bug)

That really is funny.
One of my characters married Lydia as soon as the patch allowed and I soon discovered some funny exchanges like yours.
For one, while traveling, I wanted to trade something with her and noticed the dialogue choices to buy stuff from her and have her cook a meal. I thought, we've been out here, trudging through knee-deep snow, fighting bears, dragons, and who-knows what. Surviving on Skeever tails and two-week old bread and you've had a hot, home-cooked meal in your pack the whole time! :D
It's incredibly funny to me.

Just another example of how Marriage in Skyrim seems to be just another slapped-together-un-tested feature...

While it may be painful for console players to accept, Bethesda does still have a great deal of respect for what they know can be achieved through mods on the PC. What you may consider to be something just slapped together, others see it as an opportunity to express their creativity.

I know... that was likely more than less than unhelpful... Sorry :)

First, LOL at this!

Second, I've yet to actually try marriage in Skyrim after nearly 300 hours on game time, but I'm hoping the UFO mod will provide some better alternatives in the future, when that time comes.

I don't think they are losing anything.

It's quite obviously a feature reserved for modding potential, considering how polished other gameplay features of the game were.

I only did it to get the achievement. There's no real point to do it... and it's not exactly something I care about in RPGs anyway. Perhaps if I role-play as a simple hunter, but then I can't get my wife to move out to my usurped shack in the wilderness.

Well had BETH told me they were creating a skeleton of a modern video game for modders to be able to have "an opportunity to express their creativity", I wouldn't have bought it for my console.

However they chose to market Skyrim as a completed game and then two months later admitted that it was not a completed game on the PS3 version. They then, attempted to patch the PS3 version to get it to run correctly. After 5 patches, it still does not and the two main questlines cannot be completed by a vast number of users.

Now if the OP wants he could do a search on this forum and find dozens of bugs and glitches having only to do with marriage in Skyrim. Since he was commenting on how funny his experience was and not seeking help with his "problem", I chose to comment back to him, for I thought his experience was funny also. Of course the number of bug/glitches in the marriage questline alone should have gotten Skyrim booted from Sony's certification process. Somehow those and the other quest killers "slipped" by Sony too.

Hmmm... So much for lightening the mood in a game forum for a console otherwise plagued with imperfections...

then why not get a petition and ask Beth not to work with Sony in the future, originally Beth was computer only, then they worked a deal with Microsoft and Xbox so yeah the game has bugs, but its still an amazing game and the devs will still make a killer game and get rich from it without having to make it on so many platforms, Sony you wont be missed lol

Those of us with Ps3's don't think so.
