Should voice commands for kinect be for people without kinec

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 9:31 am

The skyrim update for kinect was intended for those with kinect only, but who thinks that voice commands should be for people with kinect AND those without it via headset.

It would be nice if I could be yelling "Fus Ro Dah" into my headset and have it done in the game, since I don't have kinect.

If it worked with a headset... why would we need it for Kinect in the first place?

It's hard for me to explain, hopefully somebody with tech know-how can do a better job, but basically Kinect has the hardware/software/whatever nessacery to process voice commands, it's not the xbox that does it, it's the kinect unit itself.

to have voice commands work on a headset, that requires a lot of work, one that Bethesda isn't going to do for free. THe kinect update is free because most of the work is already done with Kinect because MS did it.

I don't see why it wouldn't work... but then again I know little to nothing on what that would require to make possible. Then again, it could just be for marketing

the mic in the head set doesn't contain any voice/verbel recognition software, and no means of storing programs at all for that matter.

'kinect' hardware doesn't do the vr, but the kinect API makes voice recognition much easier than writing your own boilerplate vr code.

how many games (before kinect) made extensive use of voice commands?

i think the influx of these kinect exclusive vr based features should help clue people in that, yes MS did indeed create a library to handle voice recognition, and yes kinect (including its supporting software) makes it easier.
