Why are so many people saying they've already played Skyrim?

Because it's been available in the Netherlands since the 8th

Well, I've just (as in, a few hours ago) picked my copy from a local game store here in the Netherlands. So yeah....

I played it in my head last night, does that count?

Lots of lucky people have had it delivered, some game stores have sold copies early to get ahead of the competition and make a few extra bucks.

Then I guess my second point comes to mind, those torrent sites are probably located in countries that don't have strict copyright laws making it next to impossible to remove all of them.

They should just hire some hackers to bring down the sites and pay them under the table.

Really, torrent sites should be blacklisted from ISPs. They're wholly illegal, so what's stopping America or other countries who have the capacity to fathom the concept of intellectual property from doing so?

I doubt much if anyone who is posting here is using a pirated copy. It took me 4 minutes to sign up for a Australian VPN. STEAM has already talked about VPNs they don't care unless you use it to buy games cheaper. I been playing since 8:00 am 11/10/11 from my Detroit Apartment. The customer service guy emailed me after I signed up and said enjoy Skyrim. So that tells me a lot of people did the same thing.
