Why are so many people saying they've already played Skyrim?

As the title says. What gives?

They got it, or most probably pirated it early.

They're pirates who come from the future, yarr.
Not really. Australia is 14 hours ahead of the US.

Sad truth is that a bunch of people (from all over the world) took over Bethesda's HQ. They are all sitting there playing, refusing to share with the rest of us.

Some pirated it (probably not the ones saying they have it already)
People are only looking at the fact that some have got it early because they live in a different region where it's already 11.11.11.
While this is the case as well, theres already a pirated version of it, but it looks as if people are refusing to see that or acknowledge that. Funny.

Why are these leaked pirated copies allowed to remain up? I don't understand.

It is tomorrow in Paris, Rome, Moscow, Tokyo and Sydney. It will be tomorrow in about an hour in London. I won't get to tomorrow for another nine hours. Geography and time zones svck. I keep telling Bethesda that MY time zone is the only one that matters, and they never listen. Tsk, tsk, Bethesda.

Some online shops start sending out copies a day or several earlier than they really ought to, that's how I got my PS3 version today (well, yesterday - it's nine minutes past midnight here). I'm obviously not complaining :) - and it's actually the first time I've had it happen myself as far as I can recall.

Torrents allow anybody in the world to upload data to other people so it's kind of hard to track down that kind of minuscule activity, and pointless since so many people are doing it, take down one and there's another thousand across the globe. Not to mention some countries don't have laws against doing this.

Wow, right with you. Bethesda should have some of their people take a look at the torrents on Arrrrr Ye Matey!. Get that s[three-letter word that means "to strike"] off the internet, and see if you can snag the pirates in some legal trouble.

There are major sites though, and its spelled out pretty clearly what the torrents are.

Streets acted like dikes and broke the street date.

So, now all the fans that decided to wait have to wait because a bunch of retailers are jerks.

Then I guess my second point comes to mind, those torrent sites are probably located in countries that don't have strict copyright laws making it next to impossible to remove all of them.
