APPAREL MENU (absolute) FAIL

I don't mind the apparel UI, but, I would like a rag doll to dress up. I barely see my character now, unless I force 3rd person on.

It's strange to me how hooked some people get on how there character looks, in a game where no one else see's you.. and you barely see your own character at all :/

Actually it was Bethesda themselves that "started" this all by creating something called 'vanity mode'.

Quote from an http://www.rpgplanet.com/features/interviews/morrowind/ then project leader on Morrowind:

We've spent all this time on the clothing and armor system, so it's great to see all that stuff move on you and such. I refer to it as "vanity mode".

I guess it is not that strange that people want to see how their character looks?

Add me to the list of those who miss the paperdoll. I'd love to see the return of it, as well as an actual stats screen too, regardless if we can add points or not, I'd like a one screen overview of my character's abilities, stats, benefits or detriments, etc...

False assumption on your part.
Which, I'm going to assume is something you do a lot of. cough.

I run around in 3rd person all the time and only use 1st person as situations merit.

As for the OP's complaint. It is easy to work around though not optimal. Merely zoom out a bit from your character and rotate the camera enough to clear the
apparal/inventory menu when you bring it up. YOu can then see how your armor changes look.

Ya I think developers often really underestimate how much people are into the barbie doll effect in games. SIMS is the most popular game in the world and the barbie doll effect is the central reason for it.

I hate the interface as well, its one of my biggest beefs with this game.
