Is this game all it's cracked out to be?

Still in awe.

Yet another night flew past way too fast.

It's sweet, but it's really not very innovative or creative. They are using a tried and true formula that works, making small improvements but really doing nothing to evolve. It may be a new engine but it doesn't at all seem like it. Feels like Oblivion gameplay with some Fallout innovations.

I think it is on about the same level of all the hype it got. There are somethings that could have been improved but to list them is just nitpicking. I don't think the menus are really an improvement from Oblivion and they are vague on some of the quest details. I have noticed things aren't always listed alphabetically in containers, there are some glitches, and I felt some of the quests would have had more epic endings. These are all pretty minor though and don't really take away from the amazing experience.

The combat system doesn't seem too much different aside from some cinematic killing blows, but its enough to make the combat much better than Oblivion and combat has never been a big thing for TES. Overall it isn't too different from Oblivion, but why try to fix something that wasn't really broken? Seems for the most part they took the polishness from Oblivion and the atmospehere from Morrowind and made Skyrim (like reaze said).

Overall I'd say it could have been better but still surpasses other RPGs by a large margin and keeps TES series a classic.

Exactly.

Obviously there are improvements to be made, but the game definitely lived up to the hype (which was rather large).

It's excellent, better than Morrowind which is really saying something imo. They got the world right and that's the thing that makes Elder Scrolls games worth playing for me. i can't wait for the construction set to come so I can tweak everything to my liking.

Me likes. It's got a bit of everything in it that keeps the gameflow interesting. I often find myself off questing only to be side tracked by something or someone i've seen which is great. Like a dog with a stick. Ohh shiny whats that over there.

The game continues to impress me. It is what Oblivion should have been.

If it were not for the texture problems and the fact that the text is unreadable and the screen is cut off on the edges, and the lack of hotkeys on the d pad, this game would have exceeded my expectations for sure.
For now though, it's just a healthy addiction.

Play on an HDTV with an HDMI cable and problem is solved, for some reason

I noticed this when I switched from the HDTV in one room to my own room, which has an SDTV, and the graphics were horrendous, not to mention the text that is near impossible to read (good thing I have relatively good eyesight), and the left is cut off a bit.

It is a good game overall. The amount of content never ceases to amaze me. There are always more quests and things you could've done differently and more places to explore. However there are a lot of bugs, balance issues, and not enough variety of enchantments/items overall imo.

I wouldn't give the game a 10/10 like some people but it's still a good game and better than pretty much any other rpg game out there today.

After 40 hours of gameplay, it just keeps getting better (and not even starting to wrap up). I had high expectations for Skyrim and it went above and beyond.

It's my new all time favorite RPG, even above The Witcher 1 & 2.
