PS3 Unacceptable TEXTURE POP UP

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 11:18 pm

yeap, I do have the same problem with the textutre pop up as everyone here, I've been waiting the game for quite a long time and I'm really dissapointed with this technical bug. so I don't think I can say smth new, but can anyone explain me why I can't see any pop up in the official gameplay videos?!?! Are they scoffing at us!?

C'mon, Bethesda, u are to say just one sentence: :"We are aware of the problem and working really hard to fix it." And that's it, everybody will be happy...

This problem is definitely noticeable. It would be nice if they would address the issue. I don't agree that it ruins the game. It's really not all that slower than the human eye would take to focus on details at different distances in real life. We are just used to game software being faster than the human eye. I remember when the first auto focus cameras came out with the slogan, "Only the human eye is faster." This was another way of saying it was slow.
I am getting into the game and am glade that it seems to have a lot of potential replay value. So I am confident the issue will improve. I have decided to upgrade my hard drive to one with a large buffer to see if it helps. I'm not ready to try SSD yet. In my opinion, the tech is still not perfected. Also the price is high for performance that will degrade over time.

With due respect, my friend, this isn't the human eye, it is digital visual media, so I think your excuse is totally irrellivant. I do however agree that it hasn't spoilt the game on the whole. But that isn't the point either. As I said earlier, the graphics have the potential to be the most beautiful I've ever seen in a decade of computer games. As it is though, it's actually the worse I've ever seen on PS3 and it completely breaks the emmersion of being in an incredible fantasy world.

Soo, as far as PC is concerned, it's excellent news that they are at least sorting the issues out there. If that's the only thing they do, at least it's something. I believe they would have to confront the problems there, because from what I've seen, it's literally unplayable for some people, with scenic geometry looking like un-textured blocks! I maintain though that if this isn't corrected for PS3 also, Bethesda Games will be one to avoid for me.

Well, there is one thing in PC patch that bother me.
To solve texture problems, developers added texture cache feature. Actually, they just upload textures to memory of videocard. So players with powerful graphics cards equipped with 1 GB memory and more can finally enjoy the game.
But if this trick is possible on PS3 and any other console where memory is strictly limited? It's a big question...

I'm on the verge of getting an SSD. The improvements are huge.

Still doesn't fix it though...that's a lot of money to merely alleviate a problem that's going to get patched eventually. It's happened across all platforms which means it's something to do with common code. Code can be changed.

Well i won't be shelling out for an ssd just to play rage. Shame too that they released the game in such a sorry state, had the potential to be decent but the texture issues reek of a poor quality game developer. Too much hype on this game anyway, Quake and Doom were never this shoddy. It'll be traded in for either battlefield 3 or uncharted 3 when they arrive. Perhaps in future Bethesda can ask for help from Naughty Dog.

Much the same would happen then too. Look at Bethesda's games...they all got released too early. Bethesda don't give a rat's ass about anything but money.

I agree, you really need to patch this game asap, because it is a great game, but we deserve better!

WHAT THE HECK IS A SSD FOR PS3?? is it a hard drive? if so what the heck does it do? and why havent i seen DOOM or QUAKE on PSN, hell we have Wolfenstein 3d, but i want the classics, and texture pop up is not enough to make me refund my game. I just wish we had TDM,DM,CAPTURE THE FLAG, ETC, but we might see those asDLC in future release. as to yelling at them to fix the console versions will take a lil time, ID team focus on 1 system at a time, i like them to take there time then rush a more buggy patch.

i was thinking my only 2 month old ps3 has an error . but for what i got an playstation ?
when the programmers of gothic 2 making games for the ps3 , then THEY MUST PRINTED IT , IN VERY BIG LETTERS ON THE DISC !
its very nice , that nobody lost a word about this error on all the gametests .
here in germany , there is no way to get my money back or sell the game on ebay .
so i must live with it . there a only 2 weeks to battlefield 3 release .
so i say , smd .

What really pisses me off is going on Twitter and seeing countless updates for PC. They are right there for the PC users but are pretty much giving console owners the finger. I mean, this pop in issue is HUGE. Never have I seen pop in this bad, even from one of the [censored]tiest games I've played. They HAVE to be aware of all the upset ps3 owners like us right now.
Yea, me too. Like the game is out only for pc. I've tweeted, posted on fb, sended mails...and nothing. Not one answer. I'm soo pissed at those lazy mf, they'll never get any money from me. Never.

stupidest thing bethesda ever did was put their name on this game
ive read "im never buying another bethesda game!" a hundred times in the last week

thats like if you came for lunch and i served you campbells soup and you said "im never eating your soup again"
well its not my soup, i didnt make it

this is an ID software game- bethesda owns them and published their game
its true that bethesda couldve said sorry your game doesnt work and were not selling something that doesnt work, but then they all wouldve gone bankrupt and we'd never get another bethesda or an id game

by a way I feel bad for you guys, but mostly I feel that we the PC gamers are not the only one got cheated by Carmack and this incomplete game...

Seriously this guy just release something to get some money and that all... "ty for the money and bb svckers"...

I really can't fully realize that this guy gave us doom and quake...

edit: as a side note, you should not point all your rage on id, the publisher have a good share of the responsibility as well, there are a lot of paradigms out there where a publisher rushed to get a game out by telling the developers "get it out now or GTFO".

It's really Sony's fault as Carmack said when I talked to him they wouldn't allow enough space. Still, They shouldn't have released it if it couldn't be done properly.
