well its good news that a faster HDD fixes the texture pop but really all that proves to us is that the current standard ps3 hardware is not able to run the game at its full potential and as the devs intended an advertised it to us as it would run/perform( do you see any texture pop in any pre release videos/trailers?? no.), really that means the game should have never been released on this console/platform if it can not run properly on its standard hardware and an upgraded ps3 system is need in order to run the game properly.either that or the devs should have changed the game so that it runs smoothly and as it should run before its release.
really i feel well an truely [censored] over by ID as i pre-ordered the game for ps3 the store actually gave me the xbox version which i also have an xbox console but returned it an exchanged it for ps3 thinking that the ps3 should run better and the fact it had only 1 disc should have been a bonus instead its a complete let down.
i wonder if they cant fix it to run properly on the current ps3's hardware are id software gonna offer everyone who purchased it a free upgrade on their console so they can play the game as ID software intended and advertised it to us, i doubt it. they should at least offer those that want it a refund or part refund or offer all ps3 owners of this game that have to deal with a permanent broken game free dlc( an decent dlc aswell) an also put a clear label on the front of the games box that states a ps3 HDD hardware upgrade is required to run this game at its full potential obviously this should only be the case if the game can not be fixed without the consumer spending out more money. if they can not at least label that the game require upgraded hardware to run to its full potential it should not be allowed to be sold on this platform.
also the reason i believe some people are seeing it worse than others when they also have standard ps3 hdd could be due to their tv an general setup, its much less norticeable on my larger 40" samsung tv that i sit further away than when compared to my 21" samsung led tv that i sit about 1 -2 ft away from. thats not to say its unoticeable and any better as its not its just my eyes dont notice it as much but its still there just as much as ever.
an yea a few areas mainly indoor ones do not have any texture pop at all and are perfect and stunning to look, this gives me hope that it may be fixable in a patch of somesort at some time in the near future.

You are really being unreasonable...
"do you see any texture pop in any pre release videos/trailers?? no." - the trailers were very obviously the PC version of the game, and actually, you can notice pop in on those too. Quite noticeable as far back as E3 previews last year. Id did say as well that the trailers were PC version at console resolution.
And seriously, just because you find the pop up to be an eye sore, that doesn't mean that the game should never have been released. I was very happy with the game. Played about 30 hours worth to get the Platinum trophy and had a great time.
"they should at least offer those that want it a refund or part refund or offer all ps3 owners of this game that have to deal with a permanent broken game" - please tell me what you would tell the store clerk when returning the game. Seriously... Uncharted, Medal of Honor, Gears of War, Unreal Tournament 3: all games I can remember seeing pop up in. All of them (except MOH) were very enjoyable.
I can't change the fact the pop up annoys you. It is your right to be displeased. But it doesn't mean the game is "broken" as you say. Far from it. FYI i've played every version of the game and they all have some degree of visible texture loading at some point. It's the nature of the engine.
