Keep lick'n that Dev a s s & wasting your money err...I mean your parents money
You waited 6 years for a game that they only spent 2 actual years of production on total. had they actually spent 5 or 6 years on it then it wouldn't be the broken mess it is.

Interesting how I stated I work two jobs and you still say I use my parents money. I'm talking from the time oblivion was released we have been waiting almost 6 years to get the Next installment of the Elder Scrolls. Let me ask you something. What's your favorite game at the moment? If it's obviously not this I bet you got one and I bet no matter what if I played it I could find one error or graphical [censored] up to condemn the game to hell. Your not a gamer bro, or else things like this wouldn't take away from your experience with a game that has so much more to offer than goddam graphical draw distances. Your a critic. And a poor one at that because no actual critic results to such poor use of text space by insulting pothers they don't even know. And I'm not a rich brat, but you got no right to insult a kid who is living with and being supported by a family who happens to want a video game. Nor do you have any right to Condemn a developing team that will most likely be winning game of the year to add to there collection of many others. You wanna piss on poor superstars... Piss on Lebron he doesn't have hardware to back himself up.

you have to add the line ugridstoload=x in the skyrim ini under display, and replace the x with a value like 5 or higher like 9 if your system can handle it. you also might want to bump your uExterior Cell Buffer from 36 to 72.

beware that these changes can effect performance greatly, and make sure you back up your save files before changing or adding the line, as once you resave with the new values you cant revert back to the original and still load the save.

The draw distance and loading of foliage is so short I'm practically having bushes pop up under my freak'n nose. This games graphics is like from a ps2 title. The snow has no textures and looks 2d like everything else in this game. Some things look cool and pretty when there far away and massive like the mountains and skyline lol but that's it.

I went across the river from Whiterun/DragonsReach to climb up the hill and turn around to expect some awesome view and instead everything looks like some fancy 2d movie prop cutout and the land looks like an oddly shaped spotted brown carpet since no foliage or textures load from 20ft away.

There should be lawsuits for releasing such an unfinished broken game.
I mean would you buy a car without an engine or wheels?! I guess most of you would seeing how you bought this game or preodered it. "they can just patch it" Tiered of hearing the idiots who say that crud. Post patching is never done right and never fixes all the problems with any game ever. This is why devs and pubs need to be punished so they will make games the way they use to, COMPLETE! But there's to many morons and spoiled little rich byotches who will keep blindly buying and preodering every game that ever comes out and the devs and pubs won't care cause they make there profits. lmao I know I'm venting but it's the truth and you know it.

The game loads detailed areas based on where you move, you move further it draws further and at some point unloads the area you have left. That`s why distant landscapes look really lame, I`m disappointed with this too and have been looking a way to force the game to load more areas, no success so far. The game is not "broken" or "unfinished", imagine it as the whole Skyrim outdoors area is divided into cells and only certain amount of cells can be loaded simultaneously, based on where your character is. That creates the situation where there`s no point climbing up the mountain in hope of enjoying the view.
I`m hoping that somebody will come up with a mod that contributes to this matter..

Okay I can't take it anymore! If you're going to bash all the hard work that Bethesda put into this game at least give them (and us) a little respect and learn to spell or at least learn how to use spell check. Your complete lack of grammatical intelligence is killing me and it's not helping you much either. Why should anyone take anything that you say seriously when you can't even use spell check?

Like I said he is a noob, he has a crap PC and got upset at how Skyrim looks when it Auto defaulted its graphics for it, anyone with half a brain would either A: Realise this and up the graphics and draw distance accordingly or B: Accept that it isn't the games fault they are a noob and maybe they need to upgrade!

Either way the game isn't at fault.

The level of hard work is somewhat questionable to be honest. But hey... opinions are like [censored]s. Everyone has one.

^This. Running the game on Ultra and it looks stunning. http://oi40.tinypic.com/1h2gxv.jpg
Yes, I'd agree, but if you look at the grnd textures way off in the distance, they're the low-res, blurry stuff. If you're in an area with little trees/grass (like looking down from a tall mountain) those large areas of distant low-res textures can look pretty horrible. :) The sky/clouds (imo), close up stuff and buildings/objects up to a certain distance look great tho.

Ohhhh...are those the ones that affect the ground texture load in or whatever? Thanks, I'll give it a quick try!

Do huge piles or areas of snow even really have a discernible texture in real life? I think about this every time somebody brings this up.

Yes, but it varies depending one the light and the type of snow. Up close it sparkles in the sun and the sparkles come in all sorts of shifting colours. Sometimes you don't notice this because of the general blinding, white glare coming off it. In cloudy weather the sparkles are gone and the contrast between different terrain features goes down dramatically. Things blend together a lot then and Skyrim does a good job of this in the mountains with the snowstorms.

The apparent texture of snow will also vary with how dense the snow is, how the wind packed it, whether its surface got blasted by blowing snow, whether the sun partially melted it and then it refroze, etc. Then there's all the craziness with light shining through layers of snow and reflecting, falling snow scattering light around, etc. Skyrim can't do these things, but his complaint about everything looking oddly 2D and plain in the snow is less justified like you suspected. They did pretty good job.

My biggest graphics complaints are:
  • The moonlight is opposite the moons. Every Bethesda RPG since Morrowind has exhibited this.
  • The whole rim of the sky turns orange during a sunset. This isn't common in the real world and even Minecraft does this better.
  • Most buildings have ridiculous interior lighting where the implied light sources (candles, windows, etc) are nowhere near the points emitting light. The effect looks like bad TV set lighting. Oblivion and Fallout 3 did this better. Morrowind did it best by having lights actually emit light. Some places in Skyrim do it well: Avanchnzel has some areas with spectacular lighting.

Lmao ah ya got me! but only with a rental.
No one cares. there are over 5000 people alone on this forum at all hours.. one person who didnt buy it isnt really a big deal..

Also generally when the general consensus says one thing, and one person says another thing, it tends to be a problem related to the person..
For instance, if 99 out of 100 people say a game has good graphics, and 1 out of a hundred disagrees, then more than likely, the popular opinion is correct, and either
1. That one person's hardware is trash;
2. They have ridiculously high standards and are NEVER satisfied with ANYTHING (ie. they are a [censored]); or
3. They have other issues unrelated to the subject at hand and are simply arguing, just to argue..

So which of the only three possibilities are you?

EDIT: Also
"The whole rim of the sky turns orange during a sunset. This isn't common in the real world and even Minecraft does this better."
They named the location "Skyrim" for a reason...

While I have noticed annoying pop ins to an extent also, and would never actually call this game beautiful like many others have done, there is a popular phrase you may want to consider before you start talking about lawsuits and using bad anology..

Caveat Emptor.

Thanks. It works...the ground itself doesn't look hugely better but you definitely get more detail like distance rocks, little pools of water and fields around farms etc. You're awesome!
