I loved morrowind.

I didnt hate oblivion, but found it to be 'meh', dumbified, simplifed and nowhere near as good.

I love Skyrim.

I dindnt play the first two unfortunately, but I agree that both morrowind and skyrim > oblivion.

I dont know which one is better yet though until I play skyrim some more.

Right now, I'm blown away. But I've only played it for 2 days. I remember when playing Oblivion, most of its flaws didn't become obvious until later, so it's too soon to say anything about Skyrim.
But for what it's worth, right now I think the game is GOD (if we can look past how bad it runs on my system even though I surpass the minimum requirements by far and... err. Sorry there)

I agree with the OP here. I haven't loved a TES game like Morrowind till now. Skyrim to me is the best of both worlds. New school and old school ideas put together for an awesome experience. I have a feeling this will be the last TES game after Todd and Pete see they can't make anyone happy. All the PC whinners and people complaining about stuff that can be fixed or modded, just and mod the damn game and enjoy it for once. The game isn't perfect but it is a H**L of alot better then Oblivimoron could have ever been. I play PC and console so I am not biased one way or the other.

It has exceeded all my expectations I am having more fun with this game than I have with any in a long time. After I have played it more I think I will like it better than Morrowind.

If you are on PC, you can edit the SkyrimPrefs file to remove the compass and quest markers.

For me, I think I'd rate Skyrim about equal to Morrowind at this point. However, character aesthetic mods are needed badly for me to really empathize at all with the characters, especially my own. And yes, I do rate Morrowind somewhat higher than Oblivion as far as an RPG is concerned.

It's like Bethesda grabbed Morrowind and Oblivion, mashed them into a lumpy clay mush, then spent 3 years carving it into a game that in a lot of ways surpasses them both. Skyrim isn't perfect, there are some things I don't like about it, but they're so small when you compare it with what the game achieves overall.

It's better than Oblivion but still a notch below Morrowind. I really miss some of the old skills/spells. They did a great job with the presentation of the game, though.

skyrim is a great game. but we all have to accept the fact that there will never be a hardcoe offline rpg anymore...

catering to casual console players now that they have the technology to support massive rpgs is the key... i have nothing against those people, it's just the rule of capitalism sadly :/

the same thing with mmorpgs. eve online is the only hardcoe game with lots of players. i played darkfall online for 2 years and i loved that game but the player base is so dwindling and it's a mere shadow now from what it was at launch. ultima online tims were the greatest... mmorpgs was the genre for the elite gamers until WOW came and took in the casual gamers...

completely understandable course the world of gaming set here... which developper in the right mind would program a game for a few thousand if they could sell millions when thumbing down the game "a bit".

Oblivion was one of the worst games i've ever played, and i half expected Skyrim to follow suit. Currently, the only problems i have are getting used to the controls, so nothing more than teething issues really.

Despite this being a console game, it actually feels like i'm playing a TES game, rather than a dumbed down adventure game for COD players.

The modders have some work to do, but i'm not disappointed at all. I'm actually very happy with this game.

I loved Morrowind, still play now when I get a chance. So far, Skyrim is really living up to expectations - significantly better than Oblivion. Personally I think this is as good as Morrowind, or at least very close. Yeah, I know theres been complaints about the pc controls, smaller selection of skills etc etc, but the atmosphere seems to be just as good, the variation between different locations in the world - big things Oblivion didn't have. Bloodmoon was an amazingly cool Morrowind expansion, in my opinion Skyrim is an extention of that.

Skyrim is pretty good. My tv is too small and cuts the compassout all together so i feel like its more like morrowind. I have seen a few horse carriages for travel, i would prefer stilt striders or some other strange creature

I'm with you on the beginning segment. I was absolutely in love with Morrowind and enjoyed Oblivion, but not as much as I could have. Skyrim blows Morrowind out of the water.

I may be the only that feels this, but... it feels to me like Skyrim takes pieces of Morrowind and meshes them with Fallout 3, instead of an evolution of Oblivion, which I personally would not have enjoyed.

For me, Oblivion and Morrowind were neck and neck. There was so much that improved from Morrowind to Oblivion that I honestly thought Oblivion was the perfect game when it first came out. On the flip side, Morrowind still had alot that Oblivion didn't offer, like the size of Vanderfell vs. the size of Cyrodill. Quite honestly though, I'm not sure what to think of Skyrim yet. There some things I absolutely love, and there are a few things I absolutely hate. Some of the positives are the varying landscapes, which are a great improvement from Oblivion, but some negatives so far would have to be the amount of similarity between Fallout and Skyrim. In some ways, Skyrim doesn't feel very much like its own game but instead a hap-hazard mix of Fallout 3 and the Elder Scrolls Series.

Same as you, really. I list Morrowind as my favorite game of all time when people ask, right above Deus Ex. I thought Oblivion was a fun hack n' slash game but not much more, and pretty boring after a while. Skyrim... Skyrim is amazing. The world is interesting again, the factions are interesting again, the gameplay, while still not as hardcoe RPG as Morrowind, is more complex and deep than Oblivion. It even seems less directed (with the compass turned off anyway) and the leveling system is great.

Perhaps most importantly for me: story and dialogue are good! Oblivion (and Fallout 3) had the worst writing, just terrible from the get-go. Morrowind wasn't always exceptional in this area but it was pretty good. Skyrim is great in this department! Well written, interesting characters, cool factions, smart questlines. THRILLED.

I'm loving it. It's MUCH better than Oblivion. The world is more varied (but less rewarding and unique than Morrowind) Level scaling is much better (this is one thing it did better than Morrowind and Fallout 3; I'm level 18 and not devastating to any enemy I come across.) Until three days ago, Morrowind was my favorite game ever. I could spend hours just wandering through the wilderness, spotting strange animals emerge from the fog, watching the clouds and the stars, listening to the music, taking screenshots on the bridges of Vivec.

I tried to like Oblivion, but nothing in the world struck me as interesting - there were no politics, religion, or ancient cultures to explore. I liked the Aleyids, but there wasn't really much to them or to their ruins. There were a ton of fort ruins with no working forts, and no explanation of why the old ones had existed. There were cities in the 'urban' capital that felt like small provincial townships. There were villages that consisted of two or three buildings max, and about five inhabitants. There was very repetitive dialogue that changed voice between sentences. There were oddly barren mountains with grass and trees that would pop up suddenly as I approached.

I've spent over 10 hours with Skyrim now (still haven't ventured beyond Riverwood), and I am happy to say that this game is a worthy successor. The characters svck me in, the environment svcks me in, the history and politics svck me in. I sat for fifteen minutes tonight watching the sunset and moonrise over the river, then went into the Sleeping Giant Inn to kick back and listen to Sven sing a ballad about assassination and vengeance. This game is a world again; it feels living and active just like Morrowind, but because it harnesses more advanced technology, it actually surpasses that level of immersion. I think I'm going to pretend that Oblivion never existed.

I'm enjoying it alot more then I did Oblivion.It feels like morrowind,except with out stats and armor is merged.

I still think Morrowind is better, but I'm having a lot more fun with Skyrim than I did with Oblivion.

There are certainly things that irk me such as the interface, lack of spell creation, the fact that clothing items are magically different items of clothing depending on your gender, and so on and so forth but the overall mechanics of the game are vastly superior to Oblivion's it's still a very fun game despite its shortcomings.

To be honest, what I love about morrowind is the fact that despite spending more than two years replaying it over and over again, I still don't really feel at home where the west coast is concerned. I just get lost ever again in those marshes. Unfortunately CTOD, especially in the Seyda Neen region, is getting ever more dire with each driver update. Lately I practically can't ever return to Seyda Neen.
The other awesome thing about Morrowind was a little mind trick I played on myself: When a friend was first showing me the game, I said something along the lines: "I don't want to bother with fights - storyline is all I'm in for". Then said friend started jumping around Seyda Need, Balmora, Caldera and Sadrith Mora showing me how I can easily overcome such an annoyance with alchemy. Watching that made the Morrowind world look insanely huge in my mind and I never managed to shake the feeling.

In Oblivion I just loved sunrises and sunsets, but otherwise the game didn't really appeal. Those popping portals were especially annoying since I just have to clean everything out. Stopped playing after just about a month or so.

I'll have to wait to see about Skyrim, but I suppose the compass might ruin some of that "getting lost" feeling about the game. You just always know when you're running towards something. Plus - there's no landscape diversity like in Morrowind. I suppose I won't be playing this one as long as I did Morrowind, but it looks like it is going to beat Oblivion hands down.

i love that i can see all the object on a desk when i get inside the shop..and i can chose to buy it or try to steel
i love that i can improve my atletic skill...and i can have a character who can jump from roof to roof like a ninja avoiding guards
i love levitation..or walk on the water...
i love more different tipe of weapon...
use my spell to lock a door
i love that when my destruction skill was to low..i could fail casting a spell..bacuse give me the feeling that my character was a rookie yet
