But they make millions so they shouldn't really care.

True enough. Still, those dollars won't make you very happy when you're diagnosed with dementia.

Playing basketball is high school I jammed my finger really really bad going for a rebound(I was center). For what felt like forever my middle finger was yellow and black/blue, swollen, and felt like it weighed more then the rest of my hand. Doctor said it wasn't broken and I could move it barely.

I have managed to mess my knee's up with the Army so far.

I had a rather odd injury while longboarding last year. I bailed off my longboard due to speed wobble and my foot got caught in a crack and jerked out of socket then back in. Then I had to use my friends skate board as a crutch all the way back up a park trail. We went to a urgent care and they just told me to stay off it and gave me a brace and crutches.
After a couple weeks of no recovery we went to a real doctor. Apparently, when my knee jerked out, it pulled my ACL, but instead of tearing, it pulled out my bone that it was attached to. Like when a plant pulls up a clump of dirt when ripped out. I ended up having to get surgery and was in a full leg cast for 3 months and crutches for 5.

I've also:
broken my arm BMXing.
concussion from doing a faceplant on concrete BMXing
multiple sprained ankles from various sports.
etc.

I broke a finger once while fielding fly balls at baseball practice as a kid. Dad, in his infinite wisdom told me to walk it off, you'll be fine. He then proceeded to hit me another fly ball, which hit the same finger again...Dad, now my finger really hurts.

While not technically sports related, or even an injury, but once which getting ready for a game (baseball) I collapsed in right field just before game time. Turns out I had appendicitis. Missed a bunch of school for that one too.

Never broken anything, pulled a few muscles though playing football (soccer), whilst trying to be clever and doing things above my skill level

Up until college I was extremely lucky in terms of not getting injured in four years of Football and Track & Field.

That's caught up to me now that I play for a Rugby men's club for my university. Right shoulder has been dislocated three times among other "smaller" but still-svcky injuries like sprained ankles and a broken middle finger which still looks crooked.

But I'll be damned if Rugby isn't the most fun I've ever had in a competitive sport.

It's a shame when I hear about kids getting paralyzed or killed playing public high school football, though. Just a shame. Those helmets and shoulder pads encourage kids to turn themselves into human missiles. Those kinds of hits are devastatingly dangerous.

Getting speared svcks mate, along with the vertebrae injuries. I have a vertebrae injury that's non sports related, so I get how you feel there. Tailbones svck pretty bad too.
Contact sports don't go well with a 150lb kid, if I were to get into football again I would need to beef up big time. Did you have to wear a back brace? I was in one for 6 months, I still use it as armor for when I go paintballing :P

I tore my mcl/acl twice, once playing basketball, and then around 6 years later training martial arts.

I now have a cadavers acl in my knee and it hurts when it rains... damn arthritis.

Nearly broke my ankle playing soccer. Took a late two-footed sliding challenge (studs up) right to the little ball that connects your foot and your leg, and of course the referee and linesman missed it. The ref told me I had to get off the field and the players from the other team literally dragged me to the sideline so play could resume. We ended up losing that game and when I got home I could visibly see internal bleeding in my foot. Two weeks later I was playing again. I've seen some really bad injuries in my time, some of them pretty serious. Nowadays I just take it easy, pickup games or intramural for me.

I once broke my finger playing chess
That requires great skill.

I broke my thumb, arm, and tailbone skiing, my tailbone again while dirt-jumping (biking,) tore a muscle in my thigh playing soccer, and broke a finger playing football.

EDIT: I forgot to say what I thought about them. In all honesty, I don't really think about them (until they happen :P). I do some stuff to reduce them (wear proper safety gear, don't be a complete idiot, etc.) but I know it isn't going to stop them all together, and I accept that.

What do I think about them? There's an inherant risk in many sports, that's part of what makes some of them fun. Some risks should be reduced; also, there's the play now and pay later aspect.

Only reall sport injury I had was a tib-fib break during soccer at age 10. The x-ray showed that the broken ends shifted past each other, effectively making my shorter. The ortho set my bones at an angle, canting my foot and angle towards the midline. The out-corners of the borken ends deteriorated while the in-corners filled in to create straight bones. This fixed a screw-up growth plate from a break when I was 7. The procedure made it into a journal, but I've never found it.

Also, it's amazing how some of the rehab procedures work...like just putting tape strips around a knee joint to make things better. Looks cosmetic, yet works underneath.
