Everyone saying PS3 users were paranoid...

I have and old 40 gig PS3. I recently update my hard drive to a 320 gig (under $40). Haven't had any problems. My save is right at 10 mb. Haven't had any lag or anything.

How or why does your file save size increase. Just wondering. I figured it would stay the same size with every save.

It's when your save file gets around 8+mb mine didn't start till my save file hit 11mb.

Ah I see. Well hopefully mine escapes this. One of my saves is at 8mb now....

Don't blame Bethesda, blame Sony for making a convoluted piece of hardware that requires more special attention than the other two platforms combined.

thats [censored] and you know it, the PS3 is nearly 6 years old now, if skrim has issues its BETHESDAS fault NOT sonys

It increases because the game has to "remember" progress made by your character, but the problem seems to lie with how uncannily rapidly Skyrim's are growing. Oblivion's and, before the game-breaking DLC, Fallout 3's never grew this rapidly, so the issue is probably the same problem with Fallout 3's GOTY edition... presumed memory leaks and/or caching flaws.

Although that begs another question... "new" engine, but same, old flaws?

Mine starts to lag when the system gets hot. The save size is about 7mb.

Worried that it will get a lot worse, but what can you do?

... and other platforms has their own share of problems.

Nothing new here, still this is far from the "THEY'RE IGNORING THE PS3 COMPLETELY" thing people went on and on about before release...

As a PC user the issue the PS3 users are experiencing is worse than the false equivalence you're pretending exists.

Good... I hope more journalists with their hands on the PS3 version make note of these things. Bethesda needs to know that people know.

Bethesda said nothing about patching this issue. All they said is they're putting out another patch for the PS3... with the same exact wording used to announce the PC and 360 patch. They've addressed the 360's texture-streaming issues head-on, but have said nothing directly about the PS3's major problem, so don't expect anything. We may get something that fixes this problem specific to the PS3 version, but don't expect it. Just expect a patch to fix general quest bugs and the like across all platforms with perhaps some support for the 360's texture-streaming issue.

my ps3 never had any problems too...the graphics are awesome and pure and no lag
I take it you have only 1 character with few saves?

I have only recently noticed this after an increasing amount of saves (mostly due to my attempting to play 3 characters). It seems to generally stem from extensive play times and is typically reserved for certain areas on the map.

Question for everyone regardless of platform... is the fall forest region at an abnormally constantly sluggish fps for anyone else?

Mine is just everywhere now. It started in the pine forest for me.

I just read that Eurogamer article. So much for the claimed "parity"... the PS3 version is blatantly inferior.

I would be glad that I told my husband to cancel my regular skyrim pre-order around a week before release and get me something else instead like speakers, headphones, another game or shopping money.....if he hadn't then said, "well if you're not getting Skyrim then I'll just put this money toward bills" ... :/ ..so it was either a problematic Skyrim or nothing at all.

Hm. Maybe I am actually glad I didn't get it. I do still get to watch him play his collector's edition. Here's to wishing all you Skyrim players who are experiencing problems the best of luck. /toast

Yep, I'm not bothered how it looks compared to the Xbox, I just want a smooth experience.

I'm a bit bothered, but I think it still looks great on the PS3 and would agree that I just want them to get the fps stable and stuttering eliminated to be content... but it just pisses me off how, despite their claims of parity, the PS3 version pretty much turned out inferior in every way. It's performance as well as its visuals are inferior... what gives?

The wonderful part about it is that the PC version is a direct port of the PS3 version. PC users have reported the same memory leak, causing the game to crash or the PC to shut down altogether after a few hours of continued play.

But hell, the PS3 version is probably just a port of the 360 version, and even that didn't get everything right.
