Sorry but .. seriously...
You look like the kind of players that wants to win at all cost, no challenge whatsoever.

You just described an Elder Scrolls game. Maybe that's the game they want to play- Elder Scrolls online?

You can say a lot about Blizzard but they score a zero on originality.

To be fair, the reason why WoW is king is because they did initially have a very original take on the MMO genre. After a decade it's worn thin, but you have to give credit where credit is due.

I'm old enough to have played mmos before wow so no it was not original at all. Blizzard just managed to exploit their popularity to make mmos a popular genre.

Blizzard has created three of the most successful game franchises of all time. Blaming their success on "exploiting popularity" is a gross oversimplification, and it completely ignores the quality products these guys have put out for decades.

I've never played Ultima Online so I can't claim the experience of the OP, but I have yet to see an MMO that doesn't have that raiding mentality. Is there, in truth, any other kind? Your argument sounds to me like the genre confusion I hope everyone can avoid. MMOs are fundamentally different than open-world RPG. They are not and cannot be interchangable in any way. If you don't like the style, then MMOs aren't for you.

MMO is actually a technical term, it is a game that has the structure to let thousands of people play together. Its not more than that BUT there are dozens of mmos which has same mechanics so when someone says MMO there is a stereotype image that shapes in our minds. That is "the" big mistake. You can do whatever you want in a mmo as long as game encourages mulitple people playing together. And an elder scrolls game like it is right now(maybe world needs to get a bit bigger) that is designed to support hundreds of people ina given time is all we want. I can guarantee that because we did buy original elder scroll games right? and we are continueing to buy it. This series has its own people. Zenimax/bethesda should continue making games for us because we are their main customers. Trying to create something to appease mmo community while ignoring your customers and doing it without bringing anything new to the table? Sorry but that is recipe for fail.

I didnt say it was not quality i said it did not contain a single original thought.
The only positive things to say about blizzard games is that they are polished and usually well balanced.

Well if you want to get into philosophy, no thought is truly original.

And if you place originality above good game design, then you're just going to have to be prepared to disagree with a lot of people.

look at 3 main franchises of blizzard. All of them has so much lore going on, its like in every good fantasy/sci-fi setting they have their own universes and their own rules. And their settings are unique, ever seen anything similar to warcraft series? or starcraft, what are you gonna compare it with star wars, star trek? cant be farther from it. and lets see diablo series, yea, name is "diablo" other than that its all original.

i think Game designers would do a better job than some one saying they are a 'MMO Veteran', -_-
You'd think so, wouldn't you? It's why I had to check the calendar to make sure April 1st hadn't come back round already.

But nope. Either Zenimax employees have never played an MMO other than WoW, have zero ambition, or have been ordered by their bosses to "make a game just like WoW, but with the TES IP."

There is zero chance of that. It will be a generic fantasy mmo with some familiar names from the tes lore.

You should take those psychic abilities on the road. Could earn yourself some real money.
