Sounds like the cold war all over again, but insead of communist scare, there is a terrorist scare.
And the terrorist scare isn't nearly as prevalent as the propaganda wants you to believe.

You can always go to the Amazon with me ;)
I'd take that offer. I'd need survival skills though. I'd rather live peacefully fighting off wild animals and hunting than take this crap.

It passed months ago.
I only found out about it in february! I read old accounts of what exactly they were planning, step by step in an old manifesto(Which I will not post the content). But it's amazing to see this stuff happening now.

No problem. I had native indian ancestors, so I'm pretty up to date on anything hunting and survival. I'd rather live with a tribe of indiginous men and women then hang around in a chaotic state too.

I'm against most things our government has been doing lately. I love this country and the people in it but I strongly believe our government needs to check itself and really see the monster that it's becoming.

Has this remained open because it's remotely civilised, or are the mods sleeping?

"The Act authorizes $662 billion in funding, among other things "for the defense of the United States and its interests abroad." In a signing statement, President Obama described the Act as addressing national security programs, Department of Defense health care costs, counter-terrorism within the U.S. and abroad, and military modernization.

I'm curious as to why they need to pass an act involving the affairs of the outside world?
Besides global domination I don't care much for what American politicans do with their time as they are all the same

So I wanted to talk about the NDAA bill that Obama has signed a few months ago. It basically states that individuals within the U.S soil can be detained without trial if suspected of terrorism or piracy. And even possibly be tortured.

"The Act authorizes $662 billion in funding, among other things "for the defense of the United States and its interests abroad." In a signing statement, President Obama described the Act as addressing national security programs, Department of Defense health care costs, counter-terrorism within the U.S. and abroad, and military modernization.

The most controversial provisions to receive wide attention are contained in Title X, Subtitle D, entitled "Counter-Terrorism." In particular, sub-sections 1021 and 1022, which deal with detention of persons the government suspects of involvement in terrorism, have generated controversy as to their legal meaning and their potential implications for abuse of Presidential authority. Although the White House and Senate sponsors maintain that the Authorization Use for Military Force. Already grants presidential authority for indefinite detention, the Act states that Congress "affirms" this authority and makes specific provisions as to the exercise of that authority. The detention provisions of the Act have received critical attention by, among others, the America Civil Liberty Union (ACLU) and some media sources which are concerned about the scope of the President's authority, including contentions that those whom they claim may be held indefinitely could include U.S. citizens arrested on American soil, including arrests by members of the Armed Forces."

Now. Discuss your perspective on this matter. I am sure most Americans will indeed speak against this. Some may not. Share you're opinions and keep it clean and respectful. What do you think of this new bill and the future of America? Pro-bill or Anti-bill?

With each passing day... Canada looks just a little bit more tempting.
