Usually, how much time after game release is the TES kit rel

I heard Todd say on a vid that the creation kit is what they used to put the game together.
So they obviously have it already.

New Vegas' GECK was released on the same day as the game but I'm not worried about the TES kit yet, I'm just enjoying the game and exploring, after all how do we know what mods are needed until we've at least explored the game for a good while. No disrespect to the people who have put mods onto the Nexus already but to me some of them seem to be mods for mods sake.

That being said I am looking forward to seeing what some of you talented modders can do with this world, I have released some mods for FO3 and NV but nothing like some of the mods you guys make, looking forward to seeing what you guys can do :-)

I have an idea for a mod featuring one of my FO3 and NV mods, Brooke, my avatar is her and I'm thinking about a mod with a quest where she appears in Skyrim with no idea why... hope I'm cabable of doing it. I guess it depends on how similar the TES construction kit is to GECK!

Well I for one, can't wait. Cause Skyrim marks my modding debut.

Yeah, but they place restrictions on what we are able to do. So that's probably what's taking so long. :P

This is always true.

However, for licensing reasons, there are tools they have built into the kit that they don't have the legal right to distribute*, so they have to remove those things before putting it up.

* Unless you all want to pay Speedtree (this was a big one in Oblivion, no idea about Skyrim) or whatever thousands of dollars to license their development tools...

Eh, Speedtree can always be had by downloading the UDK. Though, not sure how functional it'd be with other editing tools since my install of the UDK was borked somehow...

But, yeah, animation is usually a big one for these things.

Whatever; point is, there are things that they paid other companies to use on their game, but did not pay to let everyone who downloads the free CK use.

I remember the last construction kit had two releases, the first restricted the distant land and land size possibilities dramatically and several mods just ground to a halt. The second release fixed that bug and the modding doors opened wide, MERP, Mesogea, Anequina etc. Ive had several PM's asking how I made a world several times the size of Tamriel and a few of those people discussed their hopes of doing the same in Skyrim. I just keep my fingers crossed that Bethesda dont restrict the kit somewhat.

I do remember an interview where they said they didn't use SpeedTree this time around because it didn't give them enough detail. They made something themselves for Skyrim to deal with that.
