The FO3 Geck and Geck for FO:NV didn't take too long, did they?

I honestly can't remember having to wait that long..

but if it's more than a month then a certain high profile competition with the fancy pants prize monies are screwed :D

For Morrowind they released is simultaneously (on the same disk).
For Oblivion, if I'm not mistaken they actually released it slightly before most people had the game.
So obviously it's variable.

Morrowind came with a separate disk in the box for the CS.

Oblivion actually had the Wiki and CS available the night before (or maybe two nights before) the game was released.

Fallout 3 didn't even have the GECK announced until after release. It was quite some time before it became available. Over a month, IIRC.

I did not follow New Vegas's release.

I hope it won't be too long.

Almost looks like a trend, longer wait times for each game as Bethesda is dropping support for PC, as it would seem.

That makes no sense. Morrowind's wait was 0, but Oblivion's wait was actually -2. Fallout's was longer, but so far there's no real trend.

Because estimates are very, very difficult to meet. This is a secondary part of the release, and until yesterday their focus was on getting it released. And since most of them probably worked around 120 hours last week, now they're recovering from crunch time, and then they'll be coming back and figuring out where they stand: what unanticipated issues with the actual game needs to be fixed, how to get the CS into a releasable form, getting some tutorials and things on the Wiki for us, etc. How long that will take depends on a lot of factors, and coming up with an estimate is, itself, very difficult and time-consuming. So rather than spend time estimating precisely enough to announce it, they're just going to work on it and get it done.

(note: this is all purely speculation; I have no knowledge of what they are actually doing)

IIRC the New Vegas GECK was released the same day as the game was.

I see no trend here regarding the creation kit. Bethesda has been saying all along that it would be released after Skyrim. We just have to be patient.

In the meantime the best advice I can give is to just play the game. By the time you finish your first playthrough I expect the creation kit to be have been released.

I certainly hope it is sooner rather than later. There are a couple "must change" things that could make the game SO much more enjoyable.

I'd imagine it won't be too long, perhaps a week or two. There is enough leftover errata from the Fallout games still around that indicates we'll be getting something that we're all familiar with too, which is both a blessing and a curse.

I joined in late to OB and Fo3, but NV took I think like 2-3 days. I bet we will have it either tomorrow or Monday, honestly. Unless they are super busy fixing the game. (Which I honestly would prefer)

I'm more excited to mod Skyrim, than I am to play it... :P

I hope they will release it least during 1st week counting from the launch day. I don't want too see another Crysis 2 editor which comes months after the game was released.

Those who have already planned what to do with it will care. Its not the same if it takes like 6 months to get it. Just my wish to get it in one week. :P

The New Vegas Sdk isn't a good example since it was essentially the same as the FO3 program.

They're working on fixing the 360.

Plus the timed-exclusive DLC. If we get it before 2012 I'll be surprised...

The DLC team is separate from the debug team, and also probably the interns who are taking away the proprietary stuff from the SDK before we get our hands on it. I'm sure that the X-Box related problems are all-hands on deck though since that's their bread and butter. I'd wager that we get it before 2012 though, that's a bit of a stretch. Won't the first DLC be released by then? Here's hoping for more horse armor.

Fallout 3 took a month, we will get it much faster than FO3 as well. Todd said they were hoping for same day release, but if not would get as close as possible.

Dude, it's the weekend.

They just spent a bunch of years bringing out a game which is surprisingly better than Morrowind.

Let 'em have their weekend off.

Fallout 3 editor was delayed because of some legal issues as I understand, this is why they could not promise it at release.
