In my experience it's best to know whether you can actually get any use out of what you buy before you buy it. Best to know what you're purchasing before you purchase. If his PC can't run it what use is it to him?

Does it work with WIndows 8? I have a copy of 1.8 just to try it and when it tries to boot it says:
