Could be interesting, but while worthy, superior sequels to favorite classics are, A: Something I constantly wish to see become a reality, they are also, B: The last thing I should get my hopes up for on being worthy and superior.

If this was BioWare of old it'd be one thing. It's EA BioWare now though...
Eh, I wasn't even a big fan of their old work. Definitely much better than now, but their AI pathfinding was atrocious, the combat overly reliant on constant micromanagement, and contained absolutely
absurd difficulty spikes. If they were to use the old formula, I'd like to see improvements there as well. Sadly, a current gen Baldur's Gate would most likely disappoint everybody, and even that's assuming a large enough number of people even pay attention to it aside from the fact that the "creators of ME made it".
Edit: I will say their KOTOR games, minus the rampant bugs, were a
huge improvement over their older games. BG with that system would be wonderful, but again, we'd sooner get an ME clone with swords than anything resembling their old school hardcoe RPGs.
