Why I'm looking forward to TES Online

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:35 pm

Still sanity on the forum eh? Curious, a guy gives his reasoning as to why he isn't looking forward to it and gets Lasered...and a Guy who is looking forward to it gets...respectable posts...from both sides of the fence. It took a year and 7 months for the Flames on the Skyrim board to die down...I hope the crazyness here goes away soon

Well I'm very excited for it despite all the negativity. I played WoW in the summer of 2007 - 2008, during the Burning Crusade era, and I got really into the game for that time period. After that though I burned out and never could get back into it. Looking back nostalgically though it was some of the most addictive and enthralling gaming that I had been able to keep up for such a long period of time.

The Elder Srolls on the other hand is my very favorite series of all time. I love the lore, world, characters...everything about it. So the fact that it is now going to be an MMO with dungeons with other players, PVP, and other things that I enjoyed from WoW just makes it the best of both worlds. Even if it does turn out to be "WoW in Tamriel" I'll be happy and loving every second of it. Let's be serious, WoW is the most popular MMO for a reason, It's addicting and does things well. So you give me the same quality and enjoyment and place it in Tamriel....I'll be a happy camper.

I'll be a day one player, bugs and all...and I'll pay to play until they shut down the servers.

I'm reservedly optimistic about the game! I can't wait to hear more about it, but I don't think anyone should be saying it's going to be the NEXT GREATEST THING or an atrocity just because of an announcement trailer and some leaked scans.

I will be watching this stuff like a hawk, regardless. :)

One thing I don't like about this is it'll be first time seeing many areas for the first time, in an MMO rather than pure single player experience.

I'm keeping a positive outlook.. To be honest, all I want is some decent world pvp. I take mmo's as a separate thing than other games. I have played many of the open sandbox type mmo's and have a realistic expectation as to why there won't be a major retail release of that kind for some time.

All that I would need to remotely please me is a good amount of world pvp on pvp servers. No crappy flying mounts or other easy escape mechanisms. I'm easily pleased though. Just give me and my guild that I run a tiny spot to go and defend or fight for. That is all we really want.

I'm also interested just because I do like the Elder Scrolls world, and I am interested ti see the way they develop it. No matter what kinda game play mechanics they use.

I am more than looking forward to this game.....I have been waiting and hoping for it since I started playing EQ2 five years ago. EQ2 is a sophiscated game, but the lore is awful compared to the Elder Scrolls. It was Oblivion that brought me into gaming in the first place, and I used to daydream that someday Bethesda would make an MMO of Elder Scrolls that my friends, and my kids play as we do together in EQ. I do not understand why people are trying to compare an ES MMO to a cartoony shallow game like WOW. Who would imagine that the kind of intellect that created Tamriel would stoop to that. I am sure that they have not invested millions of dollars to spoil their former glory, therefore I can't wait to see the MMO.

and for those of you who play MMOs you surely realize that you don't get a mature game at first release. It takes time and patience to develop a great game, and the ES community needs to expect that in the beginning, you wont get every single thing you want. In fact, MMOs by their nature must make decisions about how to use the resources of their engine wisely, and some things --even things important to many players, like personal combat-- may be sacrificed so that other things like the freedom of the console game can be realized. Therefore, future ESO players, take heart, Bethesda isnt going to disappoint you without also delighting you if you have the patience, and the maturity, to work with them. Which will, of couse, will thin the ranks.

Since Daggerfall included the whole of Tamriel, you're wrong on many levels.

Arena did that not Daggerfall. Daggerfall did parts of Hammerfell and High Rock.

It's nice to see a positive thread with positive replies for once! I personally can't wait to explore the areas of Tamriel we haven't yet been to on the single player series.

Yea, although we ( well some of us) have explored these lands in a single player TES game, Arena, it will be great to see all of TES world all at once time again. lets hope they do it justice.

I am looking forward to what they show at the gaming conventions this year. Until then I will keep my hype under control.

Honestly, as much as I would love to be excited about this, I'm not really.
I would have been a LOT more interested in an Elder Scrolls Co-op. Even if it was a buggy mod for Skyrim, or a $30 DLC, I would've bought it. And I know a friend that wouldve got it with me.

The only two things I'm scared of is I'm hoping for cross faction parties. I'm hoping that if I'm a khajjit, I can adventure across Tamriel with my orcish friends. My other fear is the "OMG Drow are soooooo cool and sixah and I'm using mah 1337 haxor skills to pwn you because I'm 14 and grown up you stupid kiddy girl" players, but those are persistent through all MMOs.
