Strongest Possible Single Strike

To further increase the possible damage on that first hit, might want to include the Orc's berserk power and the +50% damage from doing a double dagger power attack with that perk as well. All in all, if all things line up, even with the nerf on the base damage, you can still do some serious damage on that first hit.

? the dagger doesn't ignore the armor because the mace does. dagger critical x15 is for sneaking. bleh

Read it again. I'm saying the mace ignore armor effect might be present in a dual-power-attack with a dagger and a mace as the weapons, which makes it better than outright damage against an armored opponent.

You quoted my answer (my best guess) to your question... and then asked it again..

As I said before- I do not think that would work. I really really doubt that the dagger gains the enhancement and ability of a mace class just because you are also using that to attack. Using this logic, a mace should get x15 damage if you sneak attack with it if you are also using a dagger in your offhand. I just don't think so.

I think someone mentioned a dual dagger sneak attack. Considering Oblivion example, you can't power attack while sneaking and the double strike is a form of power attack, so I don't think you can do a sneak attack with two daggers (or other weapons) at the same time.

A dual-wield power attack is done by pressing both left and right trigger and hold it. You are combining the power of two power attacks from each hand into a single attack. Going by this, all effects from both hands should stack together.

I highly doubt this. ignoring 75% armor and 15x critical would be game breaking.

Not that it's not possible, but I doubt it.

Yeah, sounds like if you get a double poisoned dagger sneak attack off... nothing should survive.

If you add the perks for extra one-handed damage and use the dual power attack when sneaking, it will be even higher

Realistically, one would probably not use a dagger in combat. Even if you were to, your blade is not long enough to inflict serious damage to your opponent at arm's length away. This is why daggers get the sneak multiplier perk, yet no other weapons do. A dagger is more practical for stealth kills, and more efficient at it than other weapons.

On topic: It would seem massive amounts of damage are possible. Cool.

Have you considered bows and arrows?
Well, depends on how you intend to play, truly, they're a bit situational. They can be quite deadly to pierce through the gaps of heavy armor and were supposed to be a good defensive addition as an off-hand weapon. They have a short range, but a long range can be a disadvantage at times too. Overall it is a poor choice by itself versus axes or swords, but a skilled user could likely do impressive feats with it.

Looking forward to seeing the first dragon one-shotted by a backstab on youtube.

I hope not because then there will be mass crying about how easy the game is and more comparison to dark souls even though the people crying will probably not understand all the modifiers used to get such powerful attacks.

Would be epic if it could happen though. Sneak up on Alduin and 1 shot him. :D

I'm willing to bet sneak attacks, except for maybe the first sneak bow attack, are going to virtually impossible. I bet Dragons will be able to detect anyone within 10 ft regardless of your sneak ability. It's what I would do being a designer/programmer to prevent one shot stealth kills. Just pretend Dragons have true sight and there you go.

That's just a guesstimate though. We'll have to wait and see what Bethesda actually did.

I'm pretty sure I did power attacks for my first sneak attack every time during Oblivion. Not sure what your source is.
