I have played all the Sims games and I know what you mean. Sims 3 had even better chargen than 2 and I absolutely loved it. If Skyrim had the level of chargen that Sims 3 had we'd be in Heaven...
As for your geriatric affliction, I would hope someone could fix that for ya as I agree a 50 year old WARRIOR should still be quite well-built and have minimal body wrinkling (if any at all). His face and hands should still look a bit haggard and warn but his body should be near-pristine.
Didn't get into 3. Was too into 2 at the time and wasn't real thrilled with some of the new directions in 3. I figured I'd get it eventually once the modding community fooled with it for a while so I could get it more to my liking.
Wow... just realized how familiar that sounds. LOL!
Anyhoo.. yeah. I don't mind the sort of experienced, "rough-wilderness" look, and it doesn't have to be the "anime" extreme insult that everyone likes to throw around, but I can't get him anywhere near anything I'd really prefer to have. I was hoping for mid to late 20s, early 30s. Maybe when I'm in my 50s I'll like characters that look the way mine does.
I also wanted a lean athletic build, sort of like a swimmer/runner (like myself, and like the athletic build body for Morrowind or Oblivion, whichever that was), but nothing really looked right. Was either too muscular or just anorexic looking. That's one reason I can't tell if it's the skin or the musculature, but the middle of the road looked like an old guy with leathery skin stretched over his frame.
