Most disturbing dreams you've had?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 9:43 am

Actually been having the most disturbing dreams I've ever had lately. I've always held honor and kindness in high esteem, and I take a lot of pride in trying to help others as much as possible while being a detriment to no one. However lately I've been having those disturbing dreams where I'm being harmful to others, where I've maybe hurt someone, or stolen from someone, or done something bad to them. But that's not the worst part, when people suddenly wake up from a bad dream it can often take a short while (a few seconds) for it to kick in that it was a dream, but during those seconds I'll have this feeling of guilt like never before.

I've read somewhere that a hypothetical purpose of dreams is to prepare you for situations you don't normally get into but if those dreams are supposed to prepare me for feeling guilt then my own mind is a sick masochist.

I had a dream where I was paralysed in the alleyway of the Smooth Criminal video with Phil Collins singing Solisbury Hill to me.

No joke, I also couldn't wake up and was pretty @#$%ed in the morning

When I was in High School I used to dream that I killed one of my teachers or a fellow student accidentally, I always felt great when I woke up and it was all a dream.

When I was younger I had a lot of death-related dreams and the usual shock stuff but for the past, say, four years I think I haven't had a single night with a dream I'd remember in the morning. I go to sleep, everything goes black, and I open my eyes a few hours later. That's my night.

Do you want to remember your dreams?

I once dreamed about Morrowind. That was also a sign that I was playing it too much. But Morrowind is one thing, MLP is another.
I dreamt about Minecraft and most recently Mass Effect, were I am part of said universes, I disliked both dreams.
Only when I fall ill during sleep or anxious about something before going to bed.

I rarely dream any more, so when I do, it disturbs me whether or not it was about anything in particular. :P

EDIT: After taking a trip down memory lane, I think I can give a better answer than that. I think the dreams that have disturbed me the most over the years are the ones where I feel like I'm living in a video game. I encounter some horrible monster or something, but since I know I'm in a video game, I try to pause the game. Unfortunately, the monster never stops when I pause the game, which is completely horrifying. In fact, my psyche can never stand more than a few seconds of that and I always wake up alone, confused, and frightened.

I used to dream that I was in a video game, those where the best dreams ever. One cool dream I had was a Star Wars dream (back when Super Star Wars on snes was out and I was a SW fan) and when one dream stopped the seqeal to that came to me the next night and so on for a week. It was great but extreamly rare that I have dreams like that now.

I've also had dreams of: Salior Moon, Valis, Legend of Zelda (based on the cartoon), He-man and She-Ra etc.

Oh a classic dream I had involved He-man----whenever He-man transformed he would hold his sword out infront of him and say "I have the power!!!!" but in this dream he breaks his sword in half and has this dumb "oops" look on his face. That was the best damn dream ever lol.

I'll just keep the descriptions short, as I have several.

One of my dreams was me apparently looking through the eyes of a hideous beast as I climbed a tower out in the middle of the ocean. I was slaughtering small children as I ascended.

Another one had me escorting a girl who I can only guess was blind, deaf and mute. We reached a staircase and upon getting to the top, I noticed she was not with me. I looked down and she was standing halfway up the steps, giving me the most piercing, haunting stare I've ever seen. It was horrifying enough to make me jump awake.

In yet another dream, I was a small child with his mother being taken away by some shady organization in some large, industrial city. Everything after that is a blur except for one part, where I appeared to be following something slimy being dragged through a series of underground pipes. My perspective then switched to an old man, screaming and moaning as his intestines were being pulled from his living body and into a hole in the ground.

Finally, I had a dream where I was living alone deep in the woods and made friends with some strange jungle boy. As the dream progressed, he became more and more violent and obsessed over keeping me around. I became frightened of him and attempted to run, but he quickly gave chase. I threw rocks and sticks back at him until I found a rather large and sturdy one. I turned and swung it across his face, knocking him down, climbed on top of him and began mercilessly beating him until his head was a quivering mass. Then I woke up in a cold sweat.

I've had many others, but they're so far back that most of the details elude me. My dreams are generally very violent and prey on my fears (such as being chased, lost, alone, being in a natural disaster, tortured, etc). Contrary to what you might think, I love having these nightmares. They inspire me to write horror, something I've always wanted to do.

I didn't. It was good, clean, 90's Girl Power fun.

Last night I had a dream I went to see a friend I hadn't seen in ages, then when he let me into his apartment he'd got three babies in a cot. I leaned over to coo at them, and they weren't babies, they were cats, on their backs in nappies and one piece suits.

Last week I had a dream about going through a red traffic light and getting a ticket. It was so realistic I spent nearly the whole of the following day worrying about the ticket, until I realised I'd just dreamt it.
