Yes, of course they have the right. If a life is threatened, then by all means that person has the right to fight back and take a life of another. It's the "either me or them" scenario.
I hope they change the manslaughter law, which states if you shoot a person in the back, even if they had held you a gunpoint, is a crime. Seriously, the person just put a gun to my head. It's not like the victim can pull out a gun and hope to survive while he is being robbed. Smart thing to do would be to wait until the robber turns around and shoot him. Easier said than done, yes, but it's been done before in third world countries many times, especially Brazil where the law is getting out of hand. I am all for self-defense.
