[REQ] Glass Armor

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 6:24 pm

After finding glass armor in Skyrim, I was kind of disappointed with how "normal" it looked, besides the green coloring.

Anyone think it's possible to make it look more like how it was in Morrowind? http://images.uesp.net/thumb/a/a2/MW_GlassArmor.jpg/187px-MW_GlassArmor.jpg

I dislike how they changed the lore around it, as well. Going from Vvardenfell volcanic glass to regular malachite, which has nothing to do with glass and is, in reality, more fragile than volcanic glass (a.k.a. obsidian).

I know that someone, don't know who, was working onmaking Morrowind's glass armor for Oblivion by completely remodelling, but he/she never finished it (shame because it looked really good!)
I really hope that someone does the same for Skyrim, and finishes it this time. MW's glass armor is without a doubt one of the coolest game armors I've seen.

^ Agreed.More than any other type of armor in MW I always wanted to be decked out in glass armor. Just so exotic and intricate looking. It actually looked like a rare and valuable item...

They should've changed the name and premise behind it. Glass in Morrowind was new to TES. It was really cool finding a whole new style of armor that you hadn't experienced before. They really didn't need to carry it over to other games like that, except maybe as a rarer material. But still, they could've kept the concept the same. In Skyrim is should be different in both name and concept (just my opinion anyway). And what about stalhrim? Where'd that go? I thought that was specifically Nordic. We saw it in Solstheim through the Bloodmoon expansion, but then it vanished.

EDIT: Sorry to the OP. Actually there will most likely not only be variants of new armor, but retextures and even new meshes for a lot of stuff. People all have their own ideas, and its the ones with access to nice modelling software that usually give us the cool stuff. :)

You can evade the lore issues by deciding that malachite in TES is another name for volcanic glass, instead of a name for a copper carbonate.

Im glad they kept glass around. I love it. The new weapons look awesome. The armor, not the best, but overall cool. I agree, I am disappointing at how it is made.

Once I am able, I plan on doing some tweaks to it.

If I had the time and software I would make the models myself, would need someone else to texture them and put them into a mod though.

The problem is of course that I don't have the time and the software that I know how to use was $900 5 years ago and has almost certainly increased in price dramatically over the years. And if I don't have the time to do the modelling I certainly don't have the time to learn a new program.
