On a further note, now i've gotten a bit further it seems that blocking and bashing with shield depelets pretty much ALL my stamina, the balance I'm finding is quite difficult to acheive. Anyone have a ration of Magicka/Health/Stamina that would be best?
When you level up, I recomend atleast your first 10 levels, you take stamina.
You dont really need to worry much about your health until 20+.
If you place 1 point into health once per 4 levels, rest into stamina, maybe an odd point into magica, and you will be fine.
Im playing an orc dual wield character and have placed 6 points into health in total, and Im lvl 21.
I never have a problem with my health, I do use some restoration as backup but seldom require it.
Im also focusing a little on alchemy as this for me works better then restoration, when you need to get the "ooomph" healing or stamina up.
You can drink 3 potions instantly, so you know, thats quite alot of stamina or health, that restoratino cant compete with.
Restoratin is superb for when you take smaller amount of health OR can run to safety or kite, while healing.
Your build by the way is not bad, considering the toughest opponents for a melee class to face is just casters. They can be outright impossible at times.
I love the sword and shield warrior but overall they are too powerful, in Oblivian they where. And I just came from running through Dark Souls twice with sword and board.
In Skyrim, its not so though. Dual wield or 2h is far greater then sword and board for majority of encounters.
But I do miss having a very high block rate and perks into shield when facing giants.
Just one word of advice for other skills: Get smithing up.
Smithing is essential for a melee character to increase your armor by sharpening etc, but above all, build your own armor.
And its very easy to level up.
You should start with the work order quests given to you already in Riverwood, at the mill, which is an introduction to Smithing as a whole.
Trust me, its almost a must have, and is incredibly useful.
Im not much into enchanting myself but have leveled it a little. I dont like to run around with enchanted weapons, I like them to be raw metal. My smithing increases the damage alot on them anyway.
What enchanting have though, is the passive bonuses you can apply to armor, if you find the receipts. And you do have magic resistance there as well.
So, through enchanting you can potentially increase your magic resistance quite alot as well, such as further enchanting your shield.
So your skill priorities should be: One handed, Blocking, Smithing, Restoration and last Enchantment.
Secondary skills will be Alchemy and Alteration.
Its impossible not to level alchemy though to be honest:-) But it takes time, unless you pay trainers for it.
At lvl 20 I already have more then 90 in smithing.
I wont find ebony or daedric yet, but..I have heaps of dragon scales and dragon bones, so Im going to grind to 100 and make a dragon armor instead.
I have not even left whiterun yet, or well, I am further into the main story and have traveled very far into skyrim, but my quest hub is still whiterun.
Reason I am so high level is due to my frenetic leveling of smithing.
But, I have no problems with monsters anyway, despite my other skills lacking somewhat. Cause I made myself and upgraded my orc armor, to, in upgraded version, be on par with daedric.
And my skyforge steel swords, which you can get very early on depending on what quests you do, have the same damage as unsharpened daedric weapons.
I just faced a dragon and thought this will be tough considering they level with you, but I went zerker rage as orc, and 2 shotted him with my power attacks after he landed.
It was a small dragon though:-)
But Orcs, in berserker rage, dual wielding, pumped up with smithing weapons, they do some insane damage.
