Vampire: The Masqerade - Bloodlines. It's not entirely an FPS, as it can be played with melee weapons in third-person, but then again, ME isn't a FPS at all either.
Yep, another vote for Bloodlines. Brilliant game.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Not very shooter oriented game, but it has laser guns in it...
Not first person though...

how is Metro 2033 an RPG?
It isn't.

Both those Deus Ex's mentioned, Vampire of course, and might I suggest the STALKER series?
Yeah, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are very light on the RPG aspect, but they're fine games.
You could try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Protocol, gameplay is like a mix of Mass Effect and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, set in the modern day.
Too bad it was awful :D

Seriously though, while the shooting mechanics were a little clunky at times, and some of the skills were a tad... unbalanced (leveled up pistols = instawin VS bosses), it still had some great stealth, and did a brilliant job of letting you shape the story through your decisions throughout the entire game, rather than just having a binary good/evil ending or a single decision at the end to pick your ending.

Another vote for Alpha protocol. Its what mass effect should have been.

It was great to
Spoiler
betray Leyland, and team up with all of my enemies, to shape the world.
Its great they included such an option, so many options and choices have consiquences.
Sure it had issues (brayko boss fight, during my first run. Dear god) but its still a damn fine game, better if you level up pistols.
Chainshot makes most of the horrible boss fights vanish.

I'm on board with Alpha Protocol. I bought it really cheap and had no expectations and it was a good game.

I'm going to try out Deus Ex: Human Revolution later this weekend but from what I've heard it's pretty good.

THAT'S a great game I love the Virus mode on that game---so fun. My favorite characters are Venus Starr (mainly because she "comes" whenever she get's killed), the Elvis Impersonator and R-108 or R-107 the guy in spandex and where's cardboard and thinks he's a robot.
I've spent countless hours playing virus mode on that prison or asylum map, though I went through the story mode a number of times, both co-op and single player. The soundtrack is memorable including the game itself. I used the Siberian guys from the first level, they have the white military outfit.

Just wanted to say how much I love that gif and the accompanying scene to it. I was in stitches when I saw it on TV.

Anyway, another vote to the Deus Ex series here. As far as FPS/RPG hybrids go, it's the King.

During those moments where it didn't force you into combat or triggered a scripted alarm. :P

Forza Motorsport 4. You level up and it can be played in first person.
