Have you ever cheated?

Post » Tue May 15, 2012 9:41 pm

Title. I will say that i did a few times - to get out of "stuck" moments, to get gold after a bug or to resurrect a companion. I also once cheated through the "claw" door - did not knew how to open those, spent 15 mins doing trial/error and dying to draugr overlord after. My save was before that door, and i forgot combination...... so i just nocliped through. Also used godmode when killing that same draugr overlord since he just oneshot me with his bow.

I always up the carry weight in any game that has it. I'm a bit of a pack/loot rat so I despise having to make 20 trips to haul my take out of a dungeon.

I often use tgm to cart loot around, but only because I'm super lazy and don't want to make multiple trips back and forth (hey, "moving house" is a long process). Sometimes I forget I have it on when I get into a fight, but that's about it. I prefer to play properly otherwise.

I've unlocked a few doors with the console when I ran out of lockpicks, but that was before I found out that you can listen to the lock to find the right position.

On console, so obviously there isn't any way to "cheat" (unless you count using exploits). But then, I don't know why you would need to. Even on Master, this game is pretty easy.

No cheating so far. I'll play through the whole game without cheating and then once some good mods are out I'll play through again and maybe do a spot of cheating/tweaking then.

I was trying to return from Ancient's Ascent, but the cave you have to go trough would crash my game everytime i entered it, got trough it the other way fine for some reason. Had to use the coc command, and the only cell name i could think of was "whiterunbreezehome". So, a little magical teleportation :hehe:

Also used "kill" command on the boss of Meridia's quest after he one-shotted me the fifth time, then i reloaded and after another dozen tries beated him fairly.

Resurrected Lydia a few times until I decided the game (or my playstyle) wanted her dead and left her corpse floating amongst the Alik’r warriors. On the bright side, with the pretty waterfall, that cave is a rather nice place to be interred.

Same thing with Maurice Jondrelle on the Blessings of Nature quest. He had quite the penchant for punching bears. Not very good at it though. Came back to that quest later and did some wiki research (which could be considered another form of cheating) and wasn't terribly pleased with the other route...so now I get to carry Nettlebane around forever as a reminder of my failure.

So, while I have cheated, my tolerance for repeated cheating to maintain my companions is very limited.

Guess i cheat by sniping a mob thats has lots of mobs and running away till they lose interest, go back and kill another( archery), rinse repeat till room at a few that I can handle. No idea what these TLC or what you mean by console commands are. Play on a PC.

If I am in a battle and by mistake hit a good NPC, who starts to attack me and wont yield after I put away my weapons, I just reload my last save since I didnt mean to hit him/her.

In winterhold during the activate well quests I casted courage on my NPC buddie Lydia over and over for a good 30 minutes, This was more fun to see how I could keep up the rhythm.

Only with my first character, at the end of the College of Winterhold quest. I'm ashamed.
