The thing with this problem is that it's not a universally experienced problem. It seems completely isolated to one person and one machine; nobody else is experiencing it (or at least has reported it). If the case were otherwise it would have no doubt been an easy fix; as things stand it's cause could be coming from literally anywhere, with a large proportion of those "anywhere"s potentially being things other than Rage (other software on the OP's machine for example).
