Bethesda Knew

I hate microsoft for various reasons but a conspiracy to change systems is just absurd.
There's no conspiracy to Microsoft wanting consumers to change systems (to their own) and actively enforcing their desire (via exclusive advertisemants, DLC, just plain cruel game release policies, at times, and general attempts at doing whatever they can to make their platform appear superior). That's just general corporate procedure with an additional helping of cruelty sprinkled on Microsoft-style, but they have truly been known to stretch the bounds of what is considered legal or not through some of their policies and actions. That's fact backed up by court cases. I doubt they've really paid Bethesda off to make the PS3 version faulty, but they've definitely paid a lot to focus most attention on the 360 version. Bethesda are at fault, mostly, for their apathy towards anything but their lead platform and their inability to meet industry standards (where most companies don't give the PS3 a poor, broken port anymore).

Did the knew about this? Yes. Is the patch going to fix this? No.

DISCLAIMER: This is a personal opinion with no intention of flaming, trolls and Bethdrones please hold your self from wasting your time on trying to change my opinion.

If they knew about it, they would have enough time to fix it for the day 1 patch, but they didn't. Now you think in a week they solved the biggest problem they have with their games on the PS3 since FO:3? (Oblivion was perfect for me in performance so cant say). Which, since 2008 still didn't fix? I say no, if they abandoned hope for the Fallout's, why should they care for Skyrim, they are not afraid of people threatening of lawsuits because they would win. Gaming website thrashing them? Nah, they have enough money to buy them off from us buying Skyrim. So in my opinion, there are really slim chances of them fixing it.

But deep down.... I...I have a dream....of lag free Skyrim.....

I also have a hard time believing that a patch will fix the issue......at least not a patch that will come out next week. If they do manage to fix it that soon, I imagine it will involve having to restart all of our games over. That's why I am not playing the game until I hear more info on this patch...

Apparently Microsoft and Bethesda have a close relationship, or at least that's what I have gathered from reading these forums over the last week. If true, it may be a reason for Bethesda not putting equal work into each console's versions.

I doubt they've really paid Bethesda off to make the PS3 version faulty, but they've definitely paid a lot to focus most attention on the 360 version. Yeah, I think this is the most probable reason for the state of the PS3 release. Bethesda should have put equal effort into both console versions of the game; They retail for the same price, after all.

Skyrim has a new engine compared to Fallout games. This new engine by all accounts is alot more stable and bug free than the old Gamebryo engine, so it could be alot easier to fix

it doesnt, just a modified version of the same engine from fallout 3/nv

although they did make it sound like a brand new engine by clever use of words

i hope your wrong, because they did have 3 versions to make, and weren't gonna budge on that release date("no matter what"). fixing game breaking bugs( or trying to ) after the game is released isnt something new to beth. and its obvious that 360 gets more attention then the ps3 due to microsofts handouts for timed exclusive dlc and advertisemant. 360>PC>PS3
the game was rushed to get that release date, and nothing was going to get in there way... theyr fully aware of the issue, and i hope they were getting this patch ready in a hope to get it out before the issue blew up the way it has..

What I find particularly disturbing is the fact that if Bethesda knew about the problems (which they most likely did) they were possibly willing to lie to sell their product.

http://gamingeverything.com/8293/bethesda-ps3-version-of-skyrim-getting-a-ton-of-attention/

This was one of the only things that we heard about the PS3 version in the pre release stage, along with Todd Howard proclaiming that the PS3 version looked almost identical to the PC version.
And it seems to all be a fat lie to sell their product, the PS3 version could have been rushed because of the release date, but I highly doubt that it was.

PS3, when it came to multiplatform games, was most of the times left in the dark, hiding behind Microsofts back.
I also hope I'm wrong. But I abandoned hope in Bethesda after leaving the issue in their game back from 3 years ago.
In my opinion, they rushed the port. If they rushed the whole game then we would see this bug on all platform's but because it happens only on PS3 makes me believe that they didn't take in account that the PS3's architecture is different from Xbox's and few changes in controls and game save directory would do fine without proper optimizing. Which of course didn't.
But if the above is true, then that means, since Fallout 3 they knew about this problem and didn't bother to fix it as they would still get their money, through the hype generated. Making them the biggest leeches of the gaming industry.

Of course they knew about it, it's the exact same 'PS3' problem they had with FO3 + DLC and NV and this appears to be a far bigger issue.

I've played 4 sessions (a few hours each) and on my last one I had major lag issues (saved and rebooted) and then a crash so I switched off and looked here. I can't believe I've been svcked into buying another Bethesda game that isn't designed to be played on the PS3, I honestly wasn't aware that it was the same game engine as FO otherwise I wouldn't have got it.

Unfortunately, like others, I'm not convinced the patch will fix this problem - they couldn't fix it before and they wont now either. Maybe it will play better until futher into the game but the lag/crashes will be back like a bad smell.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/news/a350102/elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-can-be-played-forever-says-bethesda.html

"The vibe of the game is that it's something that you can play forever," Howard said.

Pah.....you can't even play for 4 days!

The more and more I read about it, the more and more I start to hate anyone named Todd, or Howard :brokencomputer:
