Broken dungeon - Needs patching

Post » Wed May 16, 2012 4:45 pm

*SPOILER WARNING - To explain the bug I need to describe aspects of the dungeon*
I don't expect anyone to know a fix for this but I would hope someone here can pass this on through the proper channels so this can get patched.

Early in my game I encountered the Raldbthar Dwemer dungeon in the center of the world map near Shearpoint. At one point near the end of the dungeon I completed a puzzle that lowers a bridge by removing bones and metal jamming various cogs. After doing so and destroying the miniboss, this led to a room with a device that I could not activate as I did not have the proper item to do so, so I left the dungeon and marked it for later. When I RETURNED to the dungeon, not only did every enemy I had killed return (as well as all loot and locked doors/chests), but when I got back to the cog room all of the cogs were jammed once again, preventing me from lowering the bridge. Worse, all of the physics objects that I had previously removed from the cogs remained REMOVED, so I currently have no way of unjamming the cogs and thus lowering the bridge.

This is 100% a bug that can't be fixed in-game, unless there is some kind of command to initiate the cog unlock. Again if possible can someone with authority pass this on to the developers so that in the future it can be fixed?

Thank you in advance, and thank you for an otherwise incredible game!

Wow that svcks, just out of curiousity (within a spoiler tag) can you tell me what item is needed and the quest it's for so I can avoid the dungeon till I have it?
Also, since you mention a command to get the cogs to unlock, I'm guessing you are on PC? If so you can just tcl through the bridge/door they open.

Yeah I suppose I could do that, just too bad I'll have to do that again. The thing is I don't even know if I have the proper item yet, I was just going back to try one that I found that I thought might work. There is no quest attached, at least not that I've found yet. Just know it's one of the two Dwarf dungeons near Shearpoint (Dragon icon on the map) and you'll be safe.

Can't you just go in from the other way? The exit gate on the surface should be unlocked still, if you already passed through and out of the dungeon once.

If I remember right, the exit gate is on top of a mountain with no easy way of getting back up (not that I could see, anyway).

u couldnt activate the gate by pressing the cogs? maybe stuff was there blocking it just invisable? try using unrelenting force shout in the gears and bridge.

You're right that I SHOULD be able to, it was locked again though. Very annoying. I noclipped through and re-unlocked it.

No I tried. The problem seems to be that the pieces weren't in place using the in-game physics, but instead were scripted so you actually have to activate each like a button to remove them.

I can confirm this bug, as I ran into it last night. The gears were jammed again, but the things jamming the gears were sitting on the ground, and there was no indication to interact with any of the gears. Shouting just made things fly all over the place. :) I ended up noclipping past that room to continue forward, then came here this morning to see if anyone else had the same issue.
