Possession and birds

Also, instead of possessing the TB's driver I would rather just hijack one the old fashioned way... freeing up using an ability so that I may slow time while driving for instance.

Possessing a creature only allows you to use its body as a vehicle: you cannot attack or pick up items when inhabiting another body.

Regarding birds: even if it's theorically possible to possess a bird thanks to the systemic nature of our game mechanics, you'll quickly learn that possession can be cast from a limited range only, and we made sure the player would never be close enough from a seagull to be able to possess it! :P

If you add the ability people will try to find a way. Can we stack crates? :P

I don't think objects are movable, except bodies that is. Also possessing a Tall Boy is a little disappointing now. Now explosive bow action.

If I noclip/magicfly control panel to the bird does that mean I can possess it?

Can we pick things up and throw them to distract enemies for example?

As of now you can only possess people (with the upgrade), rats and dogs. There are birds in the game but I don't know if you can possess them and Arkane hasn't said anything about it.

I believe you can possess fish as well :)

Yes, you're right. Sorry for skipping them. Some people might think that there are so few options for you to possess. Well I prefer to have less options that give variety to the gameplay than to possess spaceships that just sit around. I may be onto something here...Dishonored with Spaceships! May the fan fiction begin!

Haha I agree! It's best that you only possess things that actually help you not just hundreds of random things. This game looks AMAZING, and given what I've seen so far, the developers know their stuff... Yay for spaceships!

Throwing boxes and barrells was really useful in Dark Messiah sometimes. It's like windblast minus the mana loss.

the ideas with possessing a bird struck me rather early too. I think it could require some extra maneuvring coding since birds move somewhat differently to fish and rats. But then, I've played alot of flight simulators using the WASD keys on my PC or the PS2 controller for my PS2.. I don't see how possessing a bird would demand that much extra work for the devs. As a bird you could perhaps.. hm. Don't know what you could do as a bird really :D
