Woman steals 10000$ large. And...

Post » Mon Jun 25, 2012 11:15 am

I'm not sure that's quite what she meant, but having worked for several such companies, the "laying off" thing seems to become a core philosophy and before you know it the company's destabilised itself and goes out of business. Firing staff to save money seems to be a bit of a case of corporate auto-cannibalism and seems to seldom result in a desirable outcome.
Although that may be due to the reasons they were laying off staff in the first place, companies normally start going haywire before they finally go bust.
But in this case they are in far more danger of shareholders jumping ship due to $10000 dollars being hacked by someone dumb enough to use it on a facebook game.

Well of course, that principle holds true for any kind cost reduction strategy. Starve one side of your budget too much and you'll kill the whole effort. But that doesn't necessarily reduce the general validity of any particular strategy.

That doesn't make sense, big companies will lay of people to compensate profits therefore not stealing from them is just as bad as embezzling? WTF!?!?!?
Who said not stealing was bad? I never said either one was bad, I hold them both at levels of neutral, but I certainly don't feel you're a better person if you choose not to.

With 10 grand, I'd pay off all my debts and go back to school. Correct the mistakes I've made in the not-so-distant past. With what's left over, I'd get some work done on my house and upgrade my PC.

How is stealing thousands of dollars and putting jobs at risk neutral?

Even stealing from the company itself knowing it won't affect customers or employees simply because they have a lot of money and don't need it is wrong, unless they are funding baby torture machines or something I don't see how simply having a lot of money means it's okay or neutral for people to rob you.

Make Valentine's Day dinner reservations for every resturant in New York City and then sell those reservations off for a huge profit.

I'd buy a car, instead of taking a loan like I will do in a few weeks' time.

The Sherriff of Nottingham deserved what he got and Robin Hood is from hundreds of years ago when the fuedal system meant birth (and only birth, don't go saying Paris Hilton is the same as a fuedal heir) dictated status and wealth. Just because people are smart enough to get rich doesn't mean they are a terrible person, whilst many are simply applauding embezzlement and robbery is immature and whilst Che Guevera might approve most of these thieves aren't exactly great people themselves.

Sure fleeing to Argentina is just like Robin Hood /sarcasm

I don't think the stupid part is that she spent it on a Zynga game, but rather it's that she spent it in one of the most traceable ways possible.

And I subscribe to subjective morality. Stealing and embezzlement are not objectively wrong any more than they are objectively right. It's a case-by-case basis, so you are not inherently a "better person" compared to the next guy who would embezzle 10 grand just because you choose not to.

I'd like to think 10k would be a deposit on a house, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't cut it. So I'd buy a wardrobe and TV, have a nice holiday and put the rest in a savings account.

Really? That's what this is all about?, I call shenanigans, technically embezzlement doesn't judge a person, but in this case they risked hundreds of jobs for a crappy game making them, if not bad a very stupid person. About 98% of embezzlers are bad people on a case by case basis(from madeupstatistics.com) meaning that assuming that an embezzler is a bad person, while not always right is often right. Not all murderers are bad people but it is better to presume bas (if proven guilty) until proven good. If you look at other non subjective moral factors most embezzlers are bad, enough to make an assumption for arguments sake. Subscribing to a subjective morality doesn't make it any less illegal so in a court case by case basis they are going to jail or getting fined %100 of the time so I don't mind how subjective your morality is

and I wasn't actually serious hence the banana.

She is employed by the company in Snohomish (<-wtf) County. I don't think that's in China, and I know its popular culture that every rich man owns a sweat shop in China but I am now adopting a case by case morality meter.

Start a fake company store in some other country.
Probably start with a McDowells or KFG and end with an Apple stoer

I'd stuff it in my mattress for a while, let the heat die down, and then use it to help pay off my car.

I would go to the local gun range and finally not worry about how much worth of ammo I shoot. I'd save the majority some of it though.
