I get insomnia.

Watch "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" or listen to "Behind Blue Eyes" by "The Who".

Why?

1: MLP always makes me happy cause it reminds me that there are good people in this world..
2: I can relate to "Behind Blue Eyes" a lot.

Sure, this one is my favourite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3JZa2lq2pU

I meant I play them on my guitar. Blues is very easy to play, and imo it's the most healing and cathartic music to play. I don't really express my feelings verbally, or even think much about them, so for someone like me it's a great outlet.
Thanks, I just may go take a break from learning all that hard rock and go learn the blues...

Excessively violent video games. Nothing cure the grumps like exploding a super mutant with a teddy bear.

Even if the blues don't interest you as a music in its own right, they are the cornerstone of contemporary music. Jazz, Rock, Metal, Pop, RnB, and other genres have been profoundly influenced by blues.

When I'm feeling down I like to help someone with something or just do something nice for someone else. On one hand I'm a egotistical person who feels a little bit satisfied if someone recognizes what I do as being worth something and on the other hand you end up helping someone making their day, a little bit better.

However as that isn't always possible it can also help to watch or engage in something bright and cheerful. MLP:FiM is a great cartoon to watch if you're feeling down for example, or if it is a sunny day with good weather I like to just go for a walk in the sun, few things make me as happy as sunny weather (although on the other end during the long dark winters here in the north the reverse is also true).

Also anything that inspires you can often lift your spirits. I tend to go back to pieces of art and fiction that have inspired me in the past and often they will leave me feeling as upbeat afterwards.

I love the blues. My favorite music by far. But to me the blues is less about being down and more about knowing down and getting up or being happy despite it all.

Exactly my sentiment. I think the beauty of the music is that anyone can relate to it, it's very much common to the human experience.

Agreed... Actually, art in general is like this.. Not just music.

i would consider many contemporary music to be blues, not necessarily what every one invisions when they think of blues, but pretty much all rock stems from blues any ways.
