For a long time my view has been stormcloak, but now I'm starting to feel like the Legion is the better way to go. Should I forget my stormcloak past, or should I stick with Ulfric?
If the answer is Legion, give me some good reasons why.
There is a man in Riften at Mistveil Palace who gives the best answer as to why the Empire is right and the Legion is the real choice in the Civil War. I'm paraphrasing a bit, but it basically goes like this:
While Ulfric Stormcloak has a legitimate point about the banning of Talos and is a good Nord warrior, he is a terrible leader and his reasons for the rebellion are completely selfish. If you listen to Ulfric while on the Stormcloak side, you can basically confirm all of what the man says - Ulfric is completely selfish, is power-hungry and bloodthirsty and is using the resentment and anger felt over the banning of Talos to gather more people to his side in order to take power for himself and sate his lust for battle and power. Ulfric really doesn't care about anyone who isn't a Nord, and even then barely cares about anyone other than himself. To further prove his insanity - he murdered the High King, who was
actually sympathetic to his anger, rather than rationally trying to deal with the issue.
He also knowns nothing of leadership, and barely has the smallest grasp of sound battle tactics - he gets schooled in tactical and strategic decisions by someone who has
never been in combat before.
Basically, siding with the Stormcloaks ends up weaking Skyrim rather than making it stronger, and sets it up to be the Thalmor's #$$^# after the Empire leaves. Its also technically siding with the losing side of the war - without the Dragonborn's involvement, its basically impossible for the Stormcloaks to win - a few Stormcloak soldiers talk about it, and the Imperial Legates mention that the only reason the Empire hasn't already won is because they haven't had the time or ability to bring in a full Legion to deal with the rebellion because they Imperial Legion is tied up doing so many things.
We should also not forget the only reason the Thalmor are so active in Skyrim is because Ulfric had to throw a hissy - something everyone on the Stormcloak side conviently likes to forget.
