Body parts: any difference for damage?

Post » Thu Aug 16, 2012 11:05 am

I was wondering if there is any evidence that an arrow to the head scores more than one to the knlegs. It would give me the placebo pleasure like the game is suddenly more interesting if I had to aim to the head for higher damage. The same with swords.

There is no difference in damage to the head or leg. It is fun to try for a headshot just for the heck of it, though. Knee shots are more hilarious in this game to me.

There's an interesting dichotomy regarding locational damage in this series. Some see it as an abomination that makes it more dependent on player skill than character skill, and thus bastardizing the game's RPG mechanics even more than the removal of other things (such as classes, attributes, birthsigns, etc) already has. Others view it as a way to open up new missions, such as crippling someone and taking them prisoner, as well as enhancing RP because it won't just be a matter of aiming in the general area, but enhancing strategy as to where your character would aim depending on their aim (for example, you'd aim for the leg if you wanted to cripple someone to take them prisoner).

Personally, I think this could be solved by making more than just damage dependent on the character's skill. The speed you draw your bow, the damage you do, the accuracy of your shot, and the range you can fire it could all be determined by your character's skill. That way, you as the player can have control of where you want to aim for a strategic advantage, but it doesn't really matter if you're completely inexperienced with the bow.

I want this to be applied to other weapons as well. It's frustrating that for the most part, the default weapon speed is the only weapon speed, minus a few perks and Elemental Fury.

I was hoping that if you shot someone with a bad arrow, for example an iron arrow, and the person was wearing a Daedric helmet so the arrow would bounce off of it. And instead penetrate the helmet vice versa. If the person wore no helmet and it hit their head, then it would instantly kill them.

Nope. All damge is the same no matter what loaction you hit them at. Which doesn't make sense to me because. Fallout 3 has a system like that which was made before Skyrim. So they had a few years to mod the system to work in Skyrim.

Nope. An arrow sticking out of someone's brain does as much damage as an arrow in someone's toe.
