In Morrowind, Oblivion, and maybe Daggerfall, a person with sufficient skill in conjuration can summon to them Bound Armor as weal as weaponry. Bound Armor is basically weightless (and therefore light) armor that appear to be daedric in Origin.
This was removed in Skyrim, probably because they couldn't make the bound armor to work with their new idea of bound weaponry... i.e. ghostly and transparent, without it looking odd.
As to the above, conjured weapons can be gamebreaking in the early levels, before you can find/make Daedric weaponry. With two perks, your conjured weapons deal almost as much damage as an unmodified Daedric Weapon. That cannot be dropped. Bound Swords are immediately available (more or less) and you require a conjuration skill of 20 to get both of those perks. An Altmer meets the basic requirements right off the bat!
