Good RPG Games (Not Skyrim)

No, the Ultimate Edition merely gives you all the expansions and it is better value than buying Awakening and other DLC separately.

Ah, okay. Then go for it, you won't be dissapointed with it. DA:O is incredibly fun.

Spoiler tags please.

I think the statute of limitations for spoiler tags expired for a +9 year old game.

Maybe Fallout 1 and 2? If you can get over the graphics.

Deus Ex - the original and Human Revolution. While it's not a typical RPG when it comes to dialogues, character development etc, it still offersan extremely wide range of choices.

Mass Effect is great if you like space operas

Don't get the Ultimate Edition. Doesn't that one give you all those crappy extra storylines? Witchhunt and Leliana's Song are lame, only Awakening is awesome.
Expansions like the Warden's Keep and that one with the Golem are great fun though.
I rather enjoyed Leliana's Song, even more so when I realized I met my Warden's mother in prison  I agree that other DLC are better, especially The Stone Prisoner for giving us a new fascinating companion.
I wouldnt buy Dragon Age 2, it's much worse than Origins (personal opinion ofc)

Already own and played through DA2 so many times. I love it! As for Human Revolution, it just makes me rage so much. It is one of those games which just frustrates me...

I don't know. It just makes me rage so hard. I just get frustrated with it so easily it'd be better for my mental health to not play it.

Like Zen said, Jade Empire is a nice game. It is martial arts in a China type fantasy world. It has a good character system and good controls. Bioware so the story is interesting.

KOTOR2 is halfway decent. Problem is, there's a point in the game where the dev team rushed because of LucasArts demand for it to be out by christmas.
This is so evident. I remember going into the final battle and expecting more game afterwards.

If you have a Wii, and love big huge open ended games, then I recommend Xenoblade Chronicles. That game is right up there with Morrowind tied for my favorite game, amazing gameplay and story line!

Didn't really write out my post earlier but here goes:

Best RPG I ever played to date is Dark Souls.

- It has an incredible story, which is really novel in it's presentation. Without spoiling much, the story is less of a movie and more of an active role you play.
- It has an Oldschool RPG style where you can really play out as the character you want to be. You can truly roleplay a character....like really write them out and their goals, motivations, skills, and etc, and you can level up your character and find items in the game that will allow you to always play out that role.
- The game also doesn't limit you to playing one specific way. Every approach is viable, so the game is really about how your character progressed, and what choices they made.
- Beautifully crafted world. I haven't seen a game world and inhabitants be so beautiful and diverse in a really long time. You'll always be surprised in the game by what you encounter, and the eye candy will never dissapoint. (well as long as you dont watch any guides, walkthroughs, or wikis but if you do whose fault is that? ).
- Actual consequences in questing. What you do in the game....matters, and making different decisions can dramatically affect how the game plays out. It's really cool.

Tag all of that onto what has to be the most fun, deep and diverse, 3rd person melee medieval combat system crafted to date, and you have an amazing game.

I'm really excited for the PC release with all the new content! It's gonna be great!

---

Demon Souls takes a close second for me. It's like its successor, Dark Souls, but the atmosphere is better in Demon's, while the combat is not as deep as Dark Souls. Story is incredible in both games though.

Third is Legend of Grimrock. I never played a "hallway" type RPG before, so Grimrock was an impulse purchase...but MAN it's fun! Cool puzzles, difficult game, lots of exploration, just awesome.

There are others, but those three stand out at the top for me right now.

Isn't that game a [censored] to beat? As in real difficult?
Such games just makes me frustrated.
