Okay, to a degree, the graphics are better. Where I find the game failing is in mechanics.
1. I know Skyrim is a mountainous locale, but the terrain is rough, and for heaven's sake...if a horse can get over something, how come I can't do so even more easily (people can scale steep hills better than horses can)? As a result, I wind up fast traveling everywhere because running up, down and around mountains and rocks got old within a few hours.
2. The map interface is hokerrs...almost all one color. After a while, it's frustrating. White on white with really no "map detail" worth mentioning illustrating roads and such. The map should look like a map for heaven's sake, not a photo of the region from 10,000 feet up.
3. The inability to make custom spells is a disappointment.
4. The reqiurement to find an enchanted item to get that enchantment as something you could build on...annoying.
5. Even less garment options. Boots, Body, Head, Hands, Neck and ONE RING? Good thing enchanting got neutered...you really don't run out of options. But even there...very little options in casual clothing...most all being predesigned whole outfits.
6. Relatively banol storyline. After a while, the game stops being fun and becomes work to get through even the mainline quests.
7. Effectively no real "role play" to the game. Maybe it's an inherent flaw of TES games (they let you do it all and not limit your options based on early-on class choice), but there is really no point in trying to simulate a life in the game. Marriage was pointless (could be its own point, but it fits in here). Get married, move in, and all you get is some money and a meal once a day? No relationship dynamics worth mentioning. Why bother with it at all?
Am I the only one who finds Syrim to be a disappointment COMPARED to Oblivion? I remember how bad some thought Oblivion was compared to Morrowind.
