Let me start out by saying that this pertains to xbox/playstation, even though I am a pc gamer. The issue I see is the limited hot keying available to consoles using the d pad. Though not a relevent problem on pc, I am bothered by the decision to only allow 2 hot keys for consoles.
Bethesda (or employees/developers) I hope you take time to read this.
My case in point,
The removal of classes in skyrim was in part to keep players from having to feel like they are restricted to one type of gameplay. Even further, todd howard is quoted saying he didnt want people to feel like they have to restart just because they want to play a bit differently. Awesome, I agree 100%.
The problem, however, is that 2 hotkeys makes it frustrating to play a jack of all trades or dual classes without breaking the immersion. This unfortunately forces those who dont want to pause the game to be restricted in gameplay. The exact opposite of the intentions of the developers. Even further, while I enjoy the concept of favoriting, the break in immesion gets old quickly having to pause the game just to equip a spell or weapon.
So I know that this is probably a lost cause, but I beg you bethesda, give an option to console gamers to have more hot keys! Even if dpad up stays to open the favorites menu, the direction pad can still provide 7 hot keys, plenty for most any gamer to feel free to play the way they want.
Again, I want to stress that this doesnt even pertain to me, but I want console gamers to experience the game as I do. My friend who plays it on xbox has already restarted his character because he got frustrated with not being able to map out everything for his character, feeling like he wasted perks in areas he cant use unless he pauses the game all the time. so now hes playing single class, making 2 hot keys almost playable.
Maybe its difficult to do, I really don't know, but If everyone could enjoy the ability to play any way they wanted without having to break immersion every five seconds I think it would be great. And if you like just 2 hot keys, then you could keep the original controls.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope someone listens....
