Hearthfire's possible meaning...

I'm not convinced that it's going to revolve solely around constructing homes, as the leak suggests. Mr. Howard himself said that he and the team realize that fans want more than just the stronghold DLCs that were common with Oblivion. If anything, it's going to implement the remaining features previewed at GameJam, including home construction. An entire expac revolving around building useless homes is idiotic. You can't develop a decent plot around it.

No but while it probably won't be Hearthfire, a DLC focusing around a massive quest to rebuild Helgen (with the fortress becoming a player home) COULD work. That said they need to work on magic next, and I think they will.

you guys want a house dlc? I think it's completely pointless and a waste of money if we got a house DLC. there are too many mods on PC for it. I want atmora as a DLC, something big, like shivering isles. Not some "house" dlc. That's good enough for a free patch.

Your 'waste of money' is not universal. Hell Frostcrag Spire, and the many new assets it added became the base of one of the best mods in Oblivion. As long as they charge appropriately and include new assets, I'm all for housing DLCs — it just happens that that clashes with what Bethesda's professed DLC model for Skyrim.

Ehm.
A 'hearth' is a fireplace.
'Hearthfire' is a month in the Tamriel calendar.
Its an autumn month.
The one where you light the hearth again because its getting colder.

Its simple really.
I dont know what all the fuss is about.

A 'summoning day', really?
Sheesh, people take these things far off tangentially.

If the rumor/wild-mass-guessing about building houses is true, I hope there's some side quest for rebuilding Helgen. Every time a city gets destroyed in an Elder Scrolls game (so... Helgen and Kvatch...), I want to rebuild it.

Need to check out the Orsinium speculation, since that's a Skyrim DLC I really want.

Because some guy posted a picture of frostcrag spire from Oblivion. Then later he said hearthfire was a house building dlc. Suddenly this makes him a prophet. That and he made some lucky guesses on a game from another developer.

Lucky guesses? It's okay to be skeptical but don't misrepresent. He posted the exact official product descriptions. Word for word. Just as he supposedly did for Hearthfire(was that PM ever confirmed?), which was this:

Hearthfire?, the next official game-add on for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?, has arrived. For the first time in the Elder Scrolls universe, purchase land and build your own home from the ground up - from a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with armory, alchemy laboratory, trophy room, and more! With Hearthfire, the possibilities of what you can build are endless.

Just copy/pasting an old post of mine. The two are the same, interchangeable and inconsistent.

From The Firmament :
'The Lady is one of the Warrior's Charges and her Season is Heartfire. Those born under the sign of the Lady are kind and tolerant.'

Also, from Pale Pass Crumpled Note :
' 14 of Heartfire 3E362
'I guess you found the message I told you about, old friend. We've traveled together for so long, and you're the only one I trust with the ring and my story.'

but from Purloined Shadows :
'For the week leading up to the Eighth of Hearthfire, the skies above Rindale were dark and alive as clouds of crows blotted out the sun.'

Also, from King Edward, part IX :
' All around the land prospered. Even the oldest could not recall a better harvest. In Hearthfire Josea birthed a beautiful baby girl with silver hair, but eyes of cornflower blue.'

Make of that what you will.

I would be happy with the ability to build custom homes provided it isn't the main focus of the DLC. If they did a DLC based around rebuilding Winterhold or Helgen and the ability to build custom homes stemmed from that I would be happy. As for what I think Hearthfire is about? Something to do with the month in game sounds possible but not likely. I would like to see something to do with the Sea of Ghosts, possibly a new island in he sea and the player gets to explore this new island (roughly the size of Shivering Isles). The ability to join new factions like pirates, new creatures and monsters to fight, new quests, this would make me a happy bunny.
