Dark Brotherhood Quests Not Fun

Post » Mon Sep 10, 2012 7:56 pm

I'm not sure if it's just me, but they don't seem as fun as they were in Oblivion. They seem like they're just telling you to go somewhere and kill someone, unlike the quest in Oblivion where you could drop the mounted head on someone, the conversation options in the one where you have to kill everyone in a dinner party, or the one where you stage someones death. Those were fun and clever, but Skyrim's quests just don't give you as much options to kill someone.

There are a few options in one of the jobs. As for the other targets: you can kill them anyway you want: stealth, archery, magic, brute force, trickery...

Make it more interesting then. I would try never to be seen and would always leave a blue death bell flower as my calling card on the body. Would also take a few items and make it look like a robbery.

I also didn't like the DB in Skyrim as much as the DB in Oblivion. The quest where you disguised yourself as a chef was a nice change of pace in Skyrim's DB, too bad there weren't any other quests like that one. I also wish there would have been potential "accidents," like dropping the mounted head on the target in Oblivion. That would have added some much-needed variety to the assassination methods. It would have been great too if we had more creepy dialogue from the DB members, something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RkVLkspEe8&feature=related, which is both creepy and funny, and made the DB in Oblivion so memorable for me. Well, that and http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&feature=endscreen&v=FfB1G3fJQBs. He was a great character with some great voice-acting. The closest Skyrim got to that was with Cicero. :dead:

I still think that the Dark Brotherhood is the best guild in Skyrim, even with its flat plot twist. But that's not saying much.
