Help My Computer Is Infected?!

Post » Mon Sep 17, 2012 5:42 pm

So I keep getting this error message scvhost.stealth.keylogger or something like that. I can't use internet explorer at all because everytime I open it that stupid message keeps coming up on my toolbar and my home site google won't load or freezes. I'm typing this from my phone as we speak.

I did a search and found this http://www.spywarevoid.com/remove-live-security-platinum-scam.html

That's exactly what i'm experiencing. I don't have a anti virus program because it expired. I can't get one either since my browser won't load properly. Please help

How do I get my laptop in safe mode? F8 isn't doing anything?

Boot into safe mode with networking, that should hopefully let you access the internet again.

What OS are you running? You have to hit F8 as your computer is booting up, before Windows boots. If you see the splash screen you're too late.

Thanks  I found that guide a little while ago and was able to enter that activation code and get the fake messages to stop. My interbet works, but that guide says that the program is still installed until it's removed and I can't get my laptop into safe mode for some reason.

Edit: Windows 7 Home

your computer needs lots of rest and liquids. so that means pour water on you tower and then power it down, pour a glass of water on it every half hour so that it stays hydrated and makes a speedy recovery.

also install malwarebytes, or use the free trial.

if your talking about the malwarebytes thing, then the answer is no. just install malwarebytes and let it do a scan and then it will give you the option to remove any malware or viruses it detects.

if your talking about something some one else said, then pardon me.

lastly if your talking about the thing i said before the malwarebyts, then :stare:

Spoiler
im not responsible for any fool hardy attempts to chicken noodle your computer

I'll check out that program and see if it removes it. In the link above, they give you a step by step on how to remove it, but there's a step before malwarbytes that says to be in safe mode for. Not sure why.

Edit: The virus blocks .exe files. The steps before malwarbytes require a registry fix and then a program called RKILL. It says to be in safe mode for those, but F8 isn't doing anything upon bootup.

Safe mode will boot your PC with the bare minimum of processes and services running, just those that are required by Windows.

In Safe Mode the malware is less likely to interfere with the removal process as the processes it depends on likely won't have been started when Windows booted. It also means that since less files are actively in use on your PC, then whatever kind of Malware removal software you go for, it will be able to conduct a more thorough scan.

Thanks! This virus effects .exe files so i'm guessing that if I go to install malwarebytes it'll launch live platinum scan again? My internet explorer is working again, but I can't get into safe mode so I can download that registry fix that should allow me to get malwarebytes.
