I know Daedric is among the rarest sets you can get, but what is the point of putting Dragon as the highest on smithing if it isn't the best armor (except light armor).
I can't recall off the top of my head, but is there an equal amount of perks needed up either side of the tree to get to dragon smithing? I know that the trees seemed skewed to the right hand side but I can't recall if there is actually an extra perk needed to craft dragon by going up the right hand side. Either way, the smithing tree is a bit bs anyway...As a steel plate wearing heavy armour sort of guy I have to invest in stuff I would never use (glass, elven), and if I decide to logically upgrade my threads to ebony I then have to go over to the other side of the tree.
My current runthrough I am getting my smith skills up, but haven't invested in any perk other than the first one, working on the idea that I only want dragon smithing for the weapons, and once I hit that skill level I'll just perk up the appropriate side of the tree to the armour I decide to stick with (probably the ebony mail)...although, that said, with the armour rating cap, once you get high enough across the armour and smithing skills you can pretty much mix and max your ensemble.
