Skyrim is turning into what TESO SHOULD be

Post » Wed Nov 14, 2012 6:11 pm

lol, I'm saying TES:O isn't the next step for the TES series... Fork in the road just means it's just another path you can go down in the TES franchise... Or not. Either way, there will be plenty of future TES games built in the classic style we've all grown to love.
Yup, I agree with this. Everyone is acting like "OMG TES ONLINE, NO M0RE SINGL3PLAYR ELDER SCROLLS" which is completely untrue. It's like the Elder Scrolls Adventures. They had no impact on The Elder Scrolls Chapters (or some I suppose, since it was developed by Bethesda).

I, for one, am looking forward to TESO, as long as it doesn't have a subscription fee.

Wow, TES: O isn't even out yet and you monkeys are already complaining.
You're finally getting your Tamriel in full glorious detail.

Man...Just can't please anyone around here...Offer then a hamburger, they'll demand angus.
Give them crossbows, they'll demand more variations.
Give them werewolves, they'll want werebears.
Give them Solstheim, they'll want all of Morrowind.
Give them the inch, they'll want the mile.
Sigh...
Thank you sir, beautifully put.....

on a side note, its hilarious that your name in censored

Could care less about TES:O to be honest. If you don't like the idea of it well pretend it doesn't exist.

wait... Am I the only one who supports TES:O? I mean, c'mon it has no effect on our style what-so-ever? Is this one of those "rebel against mainstream" situations? I'm no MMO elitist, never really got too involved into any of them (do to the lack of funds) but I DID enjoy them for what they were. The MMO isn't the 'next step' for the TES series, it's just a fork in the road, take it or not...

I'm not excatly for TES:O, but have nothing against it either. I'm not an MMO person, and providing it doesn't mess anything up in future games, and sticks to the lore, we should all be fine *Cough cough Disney Star Wars cough Cough*

Is it me? Or does anyone else see a  face in TES Online

....... Can't be unseen.... Hate.... So much hate right now ;)

No you′re not alone. Im glad for TESO′s coming, and Im glad for the single player DLC development. One will not take apart the other.
I want to play in the TESO world with other people and actually ROLE PLAY. Thus I can imagine the versatility of the gameplay there.
The only thing Im HATING of the MMO, is that WE, the Dunmer, are allied with one race I distrust and other I HATE. (Nords and Lizards respectively )

Is that stance untrue? Perhaps, but so is the one that this will have no impact on the main franchise. I'm still waiting for Warcraft 4, KoToR 3 etc etc. Impact is inevitable, it just remains to be seen what it is exactly.

The difference between us getting TES6 and Warcraft fans getting their next rts is of one issue: WoW became popular, TESO has no future.

That is debatible, especially with a MMO.

we will be getting future solo tes games because this studio has nothing to do with bethesda game studios, it has funding from bethesda the publisher...not the studio responsible for the elder scrolls proper.
has no say in how the future of the series will be. it may impact it through some lore? but its unlikely unless they shoehorn some really great stuff in the mmo timeline. really unlikely.

They are still part of the same parent company, ZeniMax.

Honestly the bigger the game the less you can do in the way of high res graphics. Games mentioned in the third(?) post are linear games, which do not offer an expansive world such as that in Skyrim.

This is why racing games more often then not have some of the best graphics ever.

Agreed on graphic quality... While I'm not a big fan of MMOs at all, you do have to realize a few important things... not only can there be hundreds of players on screen at any given moment (see latest dev journal on beth blog), but each of those players can have a unique and changing look in a second. Now, imagine distributing the new textures of hundreds of players to the other hundreds of players... even 100x100=10,000 d/ls if they change armor, weapons, clothing. To do so in the hi-res of Skyrim could be crippling. It wouldn't matter what computer you had on any end, the bottleneck would be bandwidth. Without a super-fast, super-solid connection, it's doubtful you'd ever be able to get past the d/ls as people took helmets off, put them on, switched from Daedric sword to Dragonbone bow, etc. Granted, a lot of that could be local (if it's not already), but even still, 100 model redraw potential on a local PC? That would have to be some wicked PC. From what I have seen of TESO, it looks, IMO, great. I just wish I had the time, and knew 3-5 other people who had the same time, to play. Supposedly, playing solo IS an option (dev journal again), but I never seem to enjoy playing like that at all.
You do not need to download the textures, they are on your disk, even expansion gear will be downloaded like the spear animations for dragonborn, but yes to many people in different outfits will cause lags because all the textures and models.
the game is said to scale well. Weaker system use lower textures and other saving tips like simpler magic effects.
This is also an issue in main cities during peak hours and events where you might get more people than on the battlefield.

I want Tamriel all to myself, not to share it with the whole lot of you. :P

Besides I don't like the concept they have in TESO.

Secondly I think http://tamrielfoundry.com/2012/11/introduction-to-teso/ look pretty good.
No not as handcrafted as Skyrim as it's much larger but it looks more like Skyrim than Oblivion.

Yes the first video was not very impressive, but I liked this one.

yep, look at it,

you are now crossing the barriers into Morrowind with this DLC and if you were to do the same in other DLC's cross the barriers into Valenwood and all the other regions of Tamriel you would have the makings of a GREAT mmo, and if done properly would give the world what the world needs and wants.......a NEW world of warcraft but with MUCH MUCH better graphics and hopefully gameplay, I can think of many ways in which Skyrim already one of the greatest single player games on the market along with Oblivion could EASILY be turned into the greatest MMO of all time
Um  Yeah, it's called Elder Scrolls Online.
It's not a :swear: NEW WOW, it's Elder Scrolls Online.
Greatest MMO of all time ... http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?&app=forums&module=extras§ion=legends#

Yeah it is. TERA looks better, GW2 looks better, EVE looks better, Blade & Soul looks better, etc. You're forgetting that TES:O isn't on consoles. They can do a LOT more in terms of visuals and scale, but are using an abysmal (in terms of visual quality) engine that was only chosen because it has great MMO back-end support. Fun fact, same engine used on board the SS Tortanic before its catastrophic accident.

Just wanted to addess this,.. The HeroEngine was commissioned to run tests while the Developers worked on their own engine.

"ZOS originally licensed HeroEngine to use as a development bridge in order to prototype areas and game concepts while the studio developed its own proprietary engine for Elder Scrolls Online." (Found http://tamrielfoundry.com/development-faq/#ref and referenced back to Game Informer)

That is all, mainly because I'm still researching stuff, in an attempt to be at least a slight amount informed. :]

For the sake of huge battles, shut the hell uo about graphics.

And, Bethesda dev said before several months: "If we were able to do a Skyrim Online, we would do it."

Just stop whining and learn something about MMO possibilities.

Btw, Darkfall is the game you guys look for, go there and AV can make things happen, theres already lots of us. Housing, guilds, sea-battle, mounted combat shooter combat, huge seamless world, etc etc. Its already more than Skyrim, EA games.
