Hearthfire issues already? Part 1

Except when NPCs get one hit killed by a spell.

Hasn't happened very often to characters in my game and that's with ancient dragon encounters.

You do realize that re-naming your children would be a little wonkey, right?

Renvale: "Hi, little girl, what's your name?"

Sera: "Sera, sir."

Renvale: "And you're an orphan Sera?"

Sera: "Yes sir."

Renvale: "Well, I'm going to adopt you Sera, as my own child."

Sera: "Oh thank you sir! This is so wonderful!"

Renvale: "Oh, your name now is Barfalot."

Sera: "But sir, I like my name. And besides, Barfalot sounds hidious."

Renvale: "Sorry kid. I believe Barfalot sounds better then...what was your name again?"

Sera: "Sera"

Renvale: "Right, Sera. That's a stupid fantasy name. I want something my 13 year real life buddies will laugh their butts off too. Wait, why are you running away. Barfalot, get back here!"

Sigh.

Thanks for that, Renvale. I needed a good laugh.

Another reason for no natural childbirth... we'd have kids popping up all over Skyrim with names like Rosie Palm, Betty Humpter, and Harry Bucheex.

Renvale: "Oh, your name now is Barfalot."

Barfalot? :lmao: Sorry, but that had me in tears!

So if you can make babies naturally, then Beth would have to implement a pregnant version of every marriable woman NPC. Then a baby for each race. Then how long would you have to wait for the child? And since you wanna make it naturally, your next big cry would be for six. Then Skyrim would be Fable. six in video games is stupid.

Yes, the time aspect of pregnancy and the kid/s having to grow up would be a problem. But the six part could be handled with a subtle cut-scene similar to how they did it in the old Cinemaware game "Defender of the Crown".

I think Giants or Skeevers will start attacking only if you have like cows, chickens and more living stuff around your house, not if you simply have a house and that's it. We know from the vanilla game that Giants use to attack cows to turn them into their dinner, so what would be the point of the attack if you chose not to have a cow at all?

Where is my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes: Raargh! *stomp*
It is a giant.
That is not my cow!

Really the only questions remaining are:

Can you choose the STYLE of your house?
Are you truly free to build your house however you lik or is it preset? I.E. the house is always built exactly the same, the rooms are always the same but room location varies, etc etc.

I'm willing to bet it's quite limited, with one style and at most, the ability to choose where the rooms go.

Are you serious OP? Things arent going to attack your house when your'e not there! As far as the game is concerned, when you are not in a certain cell space, the others do not exist until you go there, and plus, i think defending your house from bandits and creatures is a great feature!

It's a small $5 add on, I'm slightly confused as to why you want/expect so much to come out of this.
It's a lot compared to the overall game price.

So i saw articles stating that you have to fight off skeevers and Giants ugh as if the vampires attacking the towns isn't enough now our "built homes" are in danger too damnit Bethesda! and on top of that our "children" are suppose to have set names? really what happen to the RPG part i want to name my own children and do it the natural way and what about our "built homes" i mean WHERE can we build it in the "SELECTED" regions of the game why can't we just build it anywhere

- skeevers and giants are spawned just like every other creature, hence your house can't be attacked if you are not there
- to my knowledge you are not supposed to change the name of the children you adopt in RL, not sure why you want to do that in a game
- we can't build everywhere we want because modders need to know what areas are safe for buildings and landscape modding and what areas are not. That, and the fact that devs can't make sure that your house won't collide with roads, paths and as a general rule with just about every existing entity outdoors. Skyrim's landscape is not exactly the same as Warcraft's.

Well, it does happen with infants. Some friends of my parents adopted a baby they'd been fostering and changed his name, but to a similar-sounding one. Only tikme you'd change an older kid's name would be if their parents were totally evil and named them Barfalot or something.

It's ok with babies but with 10 year old children doesn't make any sense to me. No thanks.

Agreed. If I adopt, say, Aventus, I'll call him Aventus. It's not that difficult to deal with.

These aren't issues, these are just things you and some other people don't like. The giants and skeevers add a challenge and make the DLC much less challenging. It gives you a reason to be at you're house,to protect it.If you are annoyed, don't buy it but personally,I will be buying it for those reasons and many other reasons.

As for where to build it, just look at the terrain in general, Skyrim is not Cyrodiil. For the style... I pretend more than one.

No. It's really not. I found $5 in my jeans when I was doing laundry last night. DLC paid for. Ta-da.
