(Wow nearly 1/3 of your posts are quotes...)

The way you made it seem was that you didn't use/know how to use the quote button.

Well I got 325000 gold. That should be enough. I reckon to fully purchase everything it will be 100000 gold.

And remember, they don't want to invalidate the existing homes. There still needs to be a point to buying Proudspire or Honeyside, or Breezehome, and since they won't be customizable like the new lots, then the point would have to be "more affordable housing"

Cheaper housing wouldn't validate the houses. I can just save my money (seeing as how food and shelter are not vital to my character's survival). What does validate the houses in the cities would be the merchants and nearby locations of many of the game's quest givers.

And it would make absolutely no sense for a plot of land to cost 100k. First off, houses in the cities should cost several times more than that plot of land because it is in a protected community with nearby merchants (aka location). Second, those plots of land in the cities come with partially furnished houses in them. Third, you are in the middle of a warzone. Fourth, the wilderness in Skyrim is hella dangerous.

There is literally no reason why a plot of land should cost more than the house in Solitude. Making it so would certainly help to break immersion (which would defeat the whole purpose of buying land and building your own house).

No, there literally is a reason. Proudspire is a pre-built house with zero customization available. You can either decorate it or not. Proximity to anything at all means very little in a game where fast-travel is available. You yourself may not use fast-travel, but that's not the point. The point is, it's available, and most players do.

Hearthfire will therefore render Proudspire and the other existing homes considerably less desirable to most players, unless they're considerably cheaper than the new lot homes.

Hard to say when we don't know what Hearthfire will do to pre-existing houses already. It's not to outlandish to see the houses getting new upgrades that would include an oven or other new items being added in the dlc. It's all just conjecture right now.

Right now I'm sitting on 3.6 million gold and have hundreds of mats saved up in my house in Whiterun for this.

The only problem is I'm a PS3 user. =*(

So.... chances are by the time I get to play Hearthfire I'll have more gold than the sum-total of America's national debt. =(

*Barenziah spoiler!*
But yes... for gold I HIGHLY suggest the Barenziah stones. that Perk combined with Drougr ruins will have you walking out of some ruins with 20+ of every gem. It was so lucrative, in fact, that I completely stopped enchanting/upgrading any gear I got and just vendored my entire stockpile. (took a while to do... felt like a caravan trader going from city to city. :P)

Now, all I do is craft jewlery and sell those... along with some occasional upgraded Dwarven gear, soley because I think Dwemer stuff is awesome. :P
