Immediately after starting Hearthfire, when I got the letters from the courier I almost laughed out loud. The Jarl of Falkreath was talking about the "fame of my exploits" really, I killed the Emperor, that makes me famous? The courier mentions that someone new is in charge of the orphanage. I wonder what happened to the original owner? Oh right, I killed her too! I just remembered I also killed the Jarls Housecarl.

Well, if you supported the Stormcloaks, snuffing the Emperor might well be considered an exploit. If Skyrim kicks out the Empire, I expect it and Cyrodiil will be enemies for decades, perhaps centuries. When the US won its independence, she and Britain were still enemies as of 1812, and probably for some time after.
